What I heard from Jesus today is: I in Christ, you in Christ, we in Christ!
Ephesians was the city Paul spent the most time. In his third missionary journey he changed his strategy from his first missionary journey of a one man band work to his second missionary journey raising up apprentices like Silas and Timothy to his paradigm shift in his third missionary journey to establish the lecture hall of Tyrannus in Ephesus to train missionaries.
Paul's purpose for writing Ephesians is implied in 1: 15-18. He desires for the Ephesians to grow in faith, love and wisdom regarding what God the Father has already done for them and revealed to them through his Son, Jesus Christ. His aim is that they might better know God, understand his purpose for them and live in a way that is worthy of identifying with Jesus Christ as Leader of their lives. He tries to strengthen their faith and spiritual foundation by revealing a more complete picture of God's eternal purpose of spiritual salvation and restoration "in Christ". He applies this to the church and to individuals.
What I got from Jesus is that the importance of "in Christ". I carefully counted that the word "in Christ" appears 12 times in this chapter(v.3,4,6,7,9,11,12,13(two times), 15, 20 and 22. I got three points:
1. We need to be "in Christ" always
2. God's purpose is for all he has chosen to be "in Christ"
3. We need to use our spiritual gifts to lead more people in Christ to fulfill God's purpose
So, in short that is "I in Christ, you in Christ, we in Christ"!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to taste the sweetness and to receive the gifts to be in Christ and to be able to lead others in Christ. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
