Bible Study

What's happening here in these few verses? What was Levi's job about?

Think it in a modern way, just as today you often have to pay a toll to cross a border, or for using an airport or a highway, so you had to pay a toll to cross from one part of the old kingdom into another. And, Levi's job was to collect the toll and he had to collect the money in a way all the Jews did not accept. It was not a good job to have because Levi had to sit there taking the anger into his soul day after day.

Levi had been working for Herod Antipas who thought of himself as King of the Jews. Now he was going to work for someone who was really the King of the Jews and King of all Kings! Jesus came to him and treated him as a human being instead of a piece of dirt. Jesus even went into Levi's home to be with more outcasts who were being labelled as sinners. Jesus was being criticized and he told them a shocking message:
"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Mark 2: 17

What kind of people do you usually get along with? What does these few verses tell you about a possible change of your lifestyle so that you can follow Jesus?

Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: How can you call the sinners!

Jesus invites us to call more sinners to come to Him. It is a paradigm shift of changing our lifestyle because no one like to call the sinners. Most Christians like to get along with close friends every week after church. Yet they don't know is that some people feel they are being rejected because no one would like to eat with them! Jesus eats even with sinners!
So, you need to do two things, two very important things that could change your life:
1. Ask our Lord Jesus Christ to reveal to you the faces of one to two sinners. Sinners means those who have not received Jesus and may be those no one would like to get along with.
2. Pick up an Evangelist123 bookmark and find two more Christians and just do what it states there for three months.(For those who do not belongs to our churches, give me an email: bishopsilasng@gmail.com , tell me how many bookmarks you want and I can mail to you right away for free.)

If you are willing to do this then I promise you that you will experience God's grace in a wonderful way that you have never experienced before.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us not just to think, talk and discuss what does that means by calling the sinners but to really start to call the sinners back to you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
