Bible Study

This passage shows a classical case of how God broke down the barrier between Jews and Gentiles.  What happened to Peter and Cornelius in this passage should never be happened according to their culture and belief.

What is at stake here is not the eighteenth-century principle of 'tolerance', but the glorious first-century truth that, in Jesus the Messiah of Israel, God has broken down the barrier between Jews and Gentiles, humiliating both categories (Jews, because they apparently lose their privileged position; Gentiles, because they have to acknowledge the Jewish Messiah) in order to reveal God's mercy to both.

How many barriers are there in your church that you cannot breakthrough that you cannot enjoy the sweetness of fellowship and the power of unity? How can those barriers be broken?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: In Jesus, barriers can be broken

What I got from Jesus is an encouragement as well as the secret to break all kinds of barriers. There are so many barriers in any church you can name of that discourage many Christians. How can we deal with those barriers? Only in Jesus! Just like Peter and Cornelius, they both knew how to listen to God's voice and so the unbreakable barrier was being broken.

When you are enraged and discouraged by a barrier that you can't break, have peace and don't explode. Pray and wait for the Lord until you hear His voice and know what Jesus wants you to do. And, do it!

Yes, in Jesus and only in Jesus can barriers be broken!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to know and experience that only in you that barriers can be broken.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
