Bible Study

This passage is the second part of Paul's sermon. We can see how hard Paul worked to raise up those elders(in today's term is priests) to take care of those Christians in Ephesus and the seminary, the hall of Tyrannus. According to Paul, some of those elders would become overseers(in today's term is bishops). Anyway, they were all shepherds who needed to take care of the sheep that Paul used three years to feed, lead, care and protect. They needed to do the same thing as Paul did. But, the most painful thing is that some of those shepherds would become wolves!

One of the special thing we need to know in this passage is that the famous verse "It is more blessed to give than to receive" is not being recorded in the Bible as one of Jesus saying. You can't find that in any of the four Gospels and anywhere in the Bible but just here in this passage. May be that is an example of what John 21:25 that there were many other things which Jesus did which are not written down. Do you know you can't find his famous verse in the Bible as Jesus sayings?

On the other hand, the reason for a shepherd to become a wolf might be the reverse of this verse "It is more better to receive than to give." When a leader starts to receive than to give then everything change. A shepherd will become a wolf.

Are you a shepherd or a wolf?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: Are you a shepherd or a wolf?

I had a special experience when I wrote this post just half an hour ago. The topic was "Are you a shepherd, a sheep or a wolf?". But Jesus revealed to me that the topic should be "Are you a shepherd or a wolf". I asked, "Why? Lord Jesus." He said, "Every sheep following me needs to be a shepherd. Every disciple of mine needs to grow up and take the role of a shepherd feeding, caring and protecting my sheep."

So, you can be a sheep, but no too long. You need to be a good shepherd just like Jesus and Paul. Most of all, don't become a wolf!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to follow Paul's example to be a good shepherd. Protect us that we won't be kidnapped by Satan to become a wolf.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
