Paul concludes this chapter with the results of the two types of slavery. Being enslaved by sin led to eternal death. Being enslaved by righteousness led to eternal life. It is not comfortable for us to even think about we are being enslaved by righteousness because we always think that we are free. Well, may be too free. So many Christians, leaders and pastors are too free not being able to be controlled by the standard of God making a big mess everywhere. What do you think being control means? Being a slave, right? A slave must have a master, his lord master. We say Jesus is Lord, so Jesus is our lord master. But, don't forget Jesus is also our Saviour, our King and our good shepherd.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
The future, though, remains God's gift (verse 23).  Paul is careful to keep his balance.  When you sin, you earn a wage, and the wage is death.  But when you live according to God's way of holiness, you do not earn the life of the coming age.  It remains a free gift, far greater than anything we could have deserved. Final judgment will be in accordance with the life we have led (2:1-16).

Who is your lord master. Is that really Jesus?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Willing to become slaves to God

What I got from Jesus today is a practical way for us to tackle with everyday's life. We don't want to hear the word "slave" and we so want to be free. But, in fact, we are being enslaved and controlled by so many things each day.

Actually fasting is one of a few ways to help us to get rid of being controlled by other things. My Break.Build blog/podcast is a good way to stop doing anything you think may be controlling you for years. If you can stop doing that thing for 40 days you have a better chance to get rid of your addiction. If you can start doing daily devotion using my Break.Build blog/podcast that 40 days you have a better chance to start a lifestyle of Christlikeness. Do you consider my using at least two hours a day to be with Jesus, writing and recording my blogs/podcast is being enslaved by Jesus? Well, in some way it is because I just respond to my Lord Master's call four years ago. But, in fact, it is not. To be a slave to sin is darkness and death, at least spiritual death. To be a slave to Jesus is to have Jesus as our Lord and that is always victory, a victory life.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to be slaves to you so that you can be our Saviour, Lord and King.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
