Bible Study
      Paul uses Isaiah 28:16 and Isaiah 8:14 to tell us that the scripture has been fulfilled.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
     The foundation of God's new 'building' has been laid - but that those who don't believe in him, in the Messiah who is the foundation, will trip over this 'stone' and fall flat on their faces.

     God has been faithful to the covenant but the Israelites were not. It is not how good they did according to the law. It is faith alone. That's why the Gentiles can be full members of God's family.  Jesus is the only answer, not the law. 

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"


Spiritual Journal

     What I heard from Jesus today is: Jesus is the answer, not the law

    What I got from Jesus today is a reminder of what is truly important. We may think that what Paul describes is the problem concerning with the Israelites, not us. Is it really so?

      I remember that many years ago there is a movement urging Christians to return to the Basics. And, the Basics is the learn more about the Bible and to read more Bible. This is a right path, but not the real Basics. Why? The real Basics is to get back to Jesus. To enter into a truly intimate personal relationship with Jesus and then we will automatically learn more about the Bible and read more Bible.

       Do you know the difference? The Israelites know so much about the Bible. There are quite a number of Christians have so much "knowledge" about the Bible and everything about God. But, they do not have a close relationship with Jesus!

       Jesus is the answer, not the Bible! Don't step into the same trap as the Israelites to worship the Law, the Bible and not Jesus!

       Jesus says, "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,  yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life."                 John 5:39-40  

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to know that you are the answer, not the Bible. Help us to come to you everyday to have life so that we can read more Bible and learn more about the Bible.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
