Bible Study
      Paul gives the Israelites a clear message in the previous passages that Jesus is the answer, not the law. And, we need Jesus to live our what it says in the Bible. Here in this passage Paul tells a very sad reality: they just do not believe! They are disobedient and contrary people! 

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
     Fancy being the chosen people of the one creator God, and yet turning your back when he came calling and stretching out his hands to offer you the very thing you'd been waiting for all along!  Yet that is what Isaiah saw Israel doing: refusing to believe, and indeed contradicting God, disagreeing with his word - just as now, in Paul's experience, they were speaking against the new word of the Gospel.

     Do you think sometimes you belongs to those who are disobedience and contrary people? Do you have some of those who are disobedience and contrary around you that you can do something? What can you do? 

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"


 Spiritual Journal

     What I heard from Jesus today is: We don't care

    What I got from Jesus today is the key word I got last Monday from the young man who attended the PAX game conference in Seattle: We don't care!

     Yes, in Paul's term, it is "disobedience and contrary". In today's term, it is "We don't care". It is not "I don't care". It is "We don't care".

     We are actually in a "We don't care" culture. What they mean is that "We don't care about God. We don't care about what you think. We don't care about what is happening. We don't care about everything. What we care is our own "created" world. Our specially designed "cosmos".

     And, church people are still enjoying ourselves in our church culture. Do you know the church culture is already dead 20 years ago! Just as Paul says in this passage quoting from Isaiah 52:7 "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Where can we raise up more people to bring the Good News to those "We don't care" people? How can we open their eyes to see Jesus? Do you care? I do care!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to understand the urgency to bring the Good News to those whose eyes are being blinded by this world. Help us to change them from disobedient and contrary to be able to listen and obey to your call. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
