Bible Study

Paul's final sentence of 2 Corinthians is perhaps one of the most famous lines of Paul's writings. It has become a regular form of prayer or blessing in many churches for hundreds of years.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
It sums up so much of what being a Christian is all about;  it draws the focus firmly on to the God we know in and through Jesus and the Spirit; and it takes the rich practical meaning and the rich theological meaning and turns them together into an elegant prayer.  No wonder it has become so popular.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:2 Corinthians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.145-146.

But, besides this last sentence, are there any words you find in this final greetings give you inspiration, strength or blessing?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: From rejoice to Emmanuel.

What I got from Jesus today is the clue to live a joyful life experiencing the presence of Jesus daily.

    "Finally, brothers, rejoice."

That's the one word clue to everything Paul wants to solve all the problems of those Corinthians. Just one word "Rejoice", then comes with "restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace" and then Emmanuel will happen.

How easy it is to solve those problem for so many centuries that Christians can not experience this one word clue "REJOICE"!

     Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to rejoice each day that we can start to do your Kingdom work to restore, to comfort, to reconcile, to live in peace and to experience your daily presence.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
