After the author tells us that we need to do what God's word says but not just to listen, he gives us a situation that lots of Christians do wrongly without any awareness.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

The world is always assessing people, sizing them up, putting them down, establishing a pecking order. And God, who sees and loves all alike, wants the church to reflect that generous, universal love in how it behaves.

N.T. Wright. The Early Christian Letters for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.14.

So, do you accessing people according to your personal likeness? How does favouritism and discrimination mean to you?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Avoid favouritism and discrimination

The message I got from Jesus today is a reminder that we have to avoid favouritism and discrimination. Usually, these two ways of treating people happen together. Both characters cause huge damage to a church. Both characters serve as one of many examples that we just listen to God's word but not do what God's word says.

Because Jesus very clearly says, "Love you neighbour as yourself." Does Jesus says love only those neighbours who belong to your favourite group?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to do what your word says so that we won't have favouritism and discrimination. Amen.
