Bible Study

James gives a very severe warning to those who judge and slander. Life is so short, we don't even know whether we have tomorrow but we waste our time to boast and brag, doing all kinds of evil deeds.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

James seems to have in mind the kind of slander or gossip which eats its way like a cancer in a Christian fellowship, and requires urgent treatment if it is not to prove fatal.  His point is this: anyone who does such a thing is there by implying that the ordinary 'law' which applies to Christians - that they should love their neighbour as they love themselves - does not apply to them.

N.T. Wright. The Early Christian Letters for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.30.

Do you have this kind of people around you? Are you being deceived by them? Do you belong to their group?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Why sit on God's seat to Judge?

The message I got from Jesus today is a very severe warning. Judging and slander other people is actually committing a sin of sitting on God's seat to judge. We are playing God! Do you know how serious it really is?

What kind of changes need to happen in your life and in your church so that there won't be any kind of cancer cell spreading destroying everything?

I think the answer is in yesterday's passage, verse 8:
Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to come near to you each day that we won't foolishly sit on your seat to judge and slander our brothers and sisters. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
