OT DAY 75 - When You Pray, Mission Accomplished (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Starting from four days days ago we add one important thing to our daily devotion. We start our devotion with one to two verses from the Psalms to praise God. We always have so limited vocabulary when we want to praise God. Let's learn from the Psalms so that we can be able to praise God in a better way:

 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
    I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;

    I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.  Psalm 9:1-2

Today's Reading: Genesis 25:7-22

      Is that a coincidence that both Abraham and his son did not have a son at first? Do you know what is the difference between Abraham and Isaac concerning with their having their sons?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

     What's distinctive about Isaac and Rebekah is the way they react to all that.  First, it makes Isaac pray.  The word Genesis uses is not one that appears often.  It is used mostly in connection with Moses praying for God to take away the afflictions God brings on the Egyptians, but it also comes in the context of some other illnesses and afflictions.

John Goldingay. Genesis for Everyone - Part Two. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.70.

      Do you think whether you would follow the same path as Abraham did to mess God's plan, or follow Isaac's way to pray trusting that God will act.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: When you pray, mission accomplished

    What Jesus tells me today is the secret to experience the power of prayers and the sweetness of mission accomplished.  What a big difference that Isaac chose to pray as his first thing first. Not as his father Abraham, making a big mess!

    So, not believing the power of prayers and keep on making a mess or to pray first is your challenge so that Jesus can be your Lord.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to know that we need to pray before taking action to do anything.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
