It happened so many times that the Israelites did not trust Moses as God's servant, each time Moses worried, worried so much. Each time, God acted and then the Israelites trusted Moses again.

As one of God's servants, I experienced similar situation many times. Each time it hurt me and my family. Each time I asked our Lord Jesus Christ, "Why can't our people trust me more?" Each time Jesus said, "Don't worry. Be still and I will act." Christians like to say this, "I only trust in God, I trust in no one." This passage and the previous passages tell us one thing: You need to trust God's servant so that God's act can be done. Because God does His act through His servants.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

They cry out to God, which is the right thing to do, but their words to Moses indicate how terrified they are.  Like the disasters in Egypt, the parting of the sea has been explained as a natural event; a strong wind blew at just the right moment to let the Israelites through and then abated and caught the Egyptians as they followed.  Such explanations undermine the story's concern to relate how the event proved that God is God and that the great power's leader is much less powerful than he thinks. Its point comes at the chapter's close: ""When Israel saw the great power God exercised on the Egyptians, the people feared God and trusted in God and in his servant Moses."

John Goldingay. Exodus & Leviticus for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.53.

What would happen if soldiers do not trust their captains and do not obey orders from their captain? Well, they will surely lose the warfare and most probably be killed. What if they still win the warfare and are alive. Well, they will be court martial and probably be shot. Have you got the true meaning of today's passage?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: How important it is for you to trust God's servant

What I receive from Jesus today is a warning to all of us and an eye opening experience if you can get today's message. Jesus leads us to think on Moses side. How sad and discouraged Moses was at that moment when his people asked him those questions in verses 10 to 12 as in yesterday's passage. Those questions are more than complaints. Those questions show they did not trust Moses even they just experienced the great power of God through the ten plagues! How can that be! One day people obeyed Moses' command doing everything he said. The other day they stepped back and looked at Moses to see if God is still with him. How sad!

Don't say that you only trust in God because you don't want to trust God's servants. Because once you say this, you are not one of the soldiers in God's army. Ask God to remind you how your leaders track record of being God's servants. Then, trust your leaders and let them lead!

Don't kill your Moses! Satan's cunning plan is for God's people not to trust their Moses or even want to kill him. Because that kind of disobedience would destroy God's mighty plan. Your obedience to your Moses is the only way not to be stuck but a breakthrough towards the success of carrying out God's miraculous work!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to trust our leaders especially our Moses so that your miraculous work can be done.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
