Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

           But I will hope continually
and will praise you yet more and more.
15          My mouth will tell of your righteous acts,
of your deeds of salvation all the day,
for their number is past my knowledge.
16          With the mighty deeds of the Lord God I will come;
I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone.
                             Psalm 71:14-16

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Numbers 19:1-22)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers 19&version=ESV

11 “Whoever touches the dead body of any person shall be unclean seven days. 12 He shall cleanse himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day, and so be clean. But if he does not cleanse himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not become clean. 13 Whoever touches a dead person, the body of anyone who has died, and does not cleanse himself, defiles the tabernacle of the Lordand that person shall be cut off from Israel; because the water for impurity was not thrown on him, he shall be unclean. His uncleanness is still on him.

                             Numbers 19:11-13

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
Since the Old Testament time to this modern age, there have been so many people who want to get what they want through contact to the world of the dead. There are lots of witches, sorcerers, mediums who help people to get money, prestige and everything they want. Here in this chapter, God says NO to this kind of way.

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

Contact with death means you become unclean. The likely background is that death is alien to the living God, so you cannot rush into God's presence when you have just been in contact with death. You have to be cleansed from that contact. Numbers 19 gives the detail on how you achieve that…
One implication of the ritual and its background is that most societies have wanted to keep in contact with the world of the dead. One reason is our human grief at the loss of a loved one. Another is a conviction that dead people might know things living people don't know, so it would be nice to be able to consult them. So there are people such as mediums who specialize in making contact with dead people for you.  The Old Testament makes clear that Israelites were involved in such practices but also that God forbids them. When you want to know something that is inaccessible to ordinary human knowledge, God and God's agents, such as priests and prophets, are your sources, and you are to live your life in the present with the living God.

John Goldingay. Numbers & Deuteronomy for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.46-47.

It is so clear in the Bible that we cannot make contact with the world of the dead. But, there are still Christians who pay regular visits to the mediums and fortune-tellers. They think that they can get profit from them but in fact they are making contact with Satan and his dark angels. That's why those mediums and fortune-tellers are so accurate and powerful because they get the power from Satan.

Don't contact with the world of the dead!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our eyes to see how dark, evil and unclean the world of the dead is. Protect us from any contact of that world. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Have you visited any of those witch, sorcerer or fortune-teller? Do you know that is wrong? Have you repented and confessed your sins?

2. How can you help more people to know that contacting the world of the dead is unclean and might lead us into destruction?

Praise and Thanksgiving
Let's give thanks for God with us. Let us praise Him:
