19 約 書 亞 對 百 姓 說 ： 你 們 不 能 事 奉 耶 和 華 ； 因 為 他 是 聖 潔 的 神 ， 是 忌 邪 的 神 ， 必 不 赦 免 你 們 的 過 犯 罪 惡 。
20 你 們 若 離 棄 耶 和 華 去 事 奉 外 邦 神 ， 耶 和 華 在 降 福 之 後 ， 必 轉 而 降 禍 與 你 們 ， 把 你 們 滅 絕 。

If we speak of "finishing well", this is a perfect example of how finishing well really should be. To remind people don't mess with God because He is a holy God and a jealous God.
That's how Joshua made his promise to follow God with his family. That's how all the Israelites made their promises to follow God. Because they knew that God is a holy God and a jealous God!
