The poem also gives distinctive testimony to the importance of the human beings' actions. This victory was not like that at the Red Sea or at Jericho, when people just watched God act. Paradoxically, despite the fact that the situation seems hopeless and there seemed no way the Israelites could do anything about their oppression, Bee had summoned them to take action, because God was going to give them an impossible victory. While God did so, the victory depended on the clans offering themselves and God working through and with them to do something supernaturally extraordinary.

We have moments in the Bible like Moses crossing the Red Sea and Joshua crossing the River of Jordan and the destruction of the city of Jericho that God's people did not need to use any military force or even human effort to win those warfares. Just listen and obey and to do the warfare in a spiritual realm.
Here in today's passage in the Song of Deborah, we find a new understanding of our role in God's Kingdom. Men and women need to rise up building up God's Kingdom. Men and women need to follow God's appointed leaders, generals, captains in a Godly formation so that we can fight a good fight for God, just as St. Paul's says.

Rise up, women! Rise up, men!
God needs you to join His faithful people to become part of God's vast army to bring light, freedom and hope to this world!
This morning at 7a.m. we had 37 men and women came to our church to pray. Today we submitted an offer to purchase a piece of land to build our new church and today we started our 40 days prayer meeting. Please join us if you are in Vancouver area, Monday to Friday 7a.m. to 7:30a.m., Saturday 9a.m. to 9:45a.m. and Sunday 8a.m. to 8:20a.m. (Richmond Emmanuel Church, 7451 Elmbridge Way, Richmond, BC V6X 1B8) If you can't join us, please pray for us daily in this coming 40 days so that our eyes can be opened to see God's provision and enter into His preparation! 1. How do you feel when you heard "Rise Up, Women! Rise Up, Men!"? Do you know this is a call from our Lord Jesus Christ to command you to "fall in" in the division God appointed you, just like what today's passage describes to follow the lead of God's appointed leaders or commanders?
2. Are you willing to listen to the call or do you choose rather to be lazy doing nothing?
3. What have you got from Jesus today?
