OT DAY 163 - Your Offering of Money And Abilities (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence

2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile

2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people

3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

      Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
                    it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2        Praise the Lord with the harp;
                     make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

Confession and repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

My Listening
On Day 162, 40 days ago I wrote this:

Wow! Is this a co-incidence? We are having a 40 days journey to be with God through the Break.Build blog and podcast tomorrow. And, today we come to this passage about how God summoned Moses to go up to the mountain to be with God for 40 days.

      I don't think this is a co-incidence. God is calling us just like He called Moses 3,300 years ago to be with Him for 40 days!

      After Moses 40 days with God, Exodus comes to six chapters about how to prepare a sanctuary for God. What did God command and expect the Israelites to do?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

    

       The sanctuary or dwelling that Exodus describes will need offerings that overlap with both the offering of money and the offering of abilities.

     God commanded and expected them to offer what they had and abilities to prepare for God's sanctuary. At that time, they did not have money, so they offered what they had.

     After our 40 days of "Break.Build", God commands you today to give your money and abilities to prepare for God's sanctuary, your church. God expects you to do so after these 40 days. Are you willing?

Dear Lord Jesus,

      Lead us to be willing to offer our money and abilities to prepare for your sanctuary, just like how you commanded the Israelites to do in Moses' time.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.  

Reflect on these questions:

1. Is there any particular reasons that God Commanded them to offer their money and abilities after the record of Moses 40 days to be with God?

2.  How important it is for you after the past 40 days to offer your money and abilities more than ever so that your home church will be blessed?
