Bible Study

Is your name in the book of life? If not, you are in great, great trouble. According to Paul's "Justification by faith", once we received Jesus as our Savior and Lord of Life, our name should be in the Book of Life. We need to have this kind of assurance, right?

This passage shows the last effort of Satan to block people's name to be in the Book of Life. So, this is the time for you to do something to let Jesus to use you to save more souls, especially your loved ones if they have not received Jesus.

If you want to understand why John talks about Gog and Magog, you have to turn to Ezekiel 38 which prophesied Satan is going to try his last attack on God's people, even after their rescue from Babylon

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

The point, yet again, is that evil must be allowed, under certain controls, to do its worst, so that it can at last be defeated…Babylon was overthrown three chapters ago; the two monsters met their doom in chapter 19; now at last the dragon has been overthrown as well, and for good.

N.T. Wright. Revelation for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.183-184.

The topic in my blog two days ago was "Satan, Game Over". In fact, he is not yet totally game over. That would be Satan's admirals, the two monsters. And now in this passage, Satan is really totally game over. How does Satan's effort to block people out from the Book of Life affects your life? What have you got?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Your name must be in the Book of Life

What I receive from Jesus today is a desperate call to us to try all our best to let Jesus to use our lives to lead more people to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of life, especially your loved ones!

I need your prayers! Because in two days time, this coming Tuesday at 8:30p.m., Michelle and I will go to Tracy Wong's home to deliver some personal words from our Lord Jesus Christ to Tracy's father. Mr. Wong who I never meet before has terminal cancer and he is waiting to die. His terminal cancer happened too fast and this Tuesday is the only time he allows us to visit him. Thinking that we can bring some kind of peace to him.

Not only that kind of peace, Jesus is going to use us to let Mr. Wong's name to be put into the Book of Life. Please pray that one more soul will be saved! Pray please!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know Satan's effort to stop us to lead our loved ones into your Kingdom and their names to be in the Book of Life. Open our eyes to see that and change us so that we can use everything we can to lead those who you have prepared for us into your Kingdom and their name in the Book of Life.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Bible Study

This passage is perhaps one of the most difficult passages to understand in the whole Bible.  It talks about two stages of resurrection, sharing a thousand- year reign with Jesus, the temporary binding of the satan, and then satan "must be set free for a short time". Wow! So confusing, what is it really about? How can we understand this passage?

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

The clue to the passage is, I believe, in the opening line: 'I saw thrones, with people sitting on them, who were given authority to judge.'…Jesus, according to the whole New Testament, is already reigning; and what John is saying is that the martyrs are already reigning with him
We must hold on to the central things which John has made crystal clear: the victory of the lamb, and the call to share his victory through faith and patience.  God will then do what God will then do.  Whether we describe the final events as Revelation 20 has done, or as Paul does in Romans 8.18-26 or 1 Corinthians 15.20-28, it is clear that the one who wins the victory is the creator God, who does so to defeat and abolish death itself and so to open the way to the glories of the renewed creation.  That is what matters.

N.T. Wright. Revelation for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.180-181.

You can go to find ten different commentaries, having all kinds of information and theories to explain today's passage, but you will never find an answer. What you need to know today is what matter most to the central theme of this passage? What matter most does Jesus wants to tell you through this passage?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: What matter most?

What I receive from Jesus today is a clue to understand all those difficult symbolic meanings in Revelation. What matter most to me is that I am not going to fear the power of the dragon, the serpent, the devil, satan. He has so many names like Deceiver, Destroyer, Separator and more. And, I do not have to fear death and my unknown future. All these are the things people usually fear of.

Jesus is Lord, is the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. He is my Lord and I have no fear!

That's what matter most! Wow! How comforting, assuring and rejoicing!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be sure what matter most in our lives is that you reign, in control and is Lord of lords and King of kings.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Bible Study

This passage gives us a scene of how the beast, Satan is finally defeated. No matter how hard Satan tries, no matter how cunning he is and no matter how many people he deceived, he is going to be defeated in God's time.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

Once you understand who Jesus was and is, and the significance of the victory which he has won in his death, there can be no doubt about the final outcome.  Monstrous regimes may come and go.  Lies and deceits will continue to be spread.  We must be on our guard.  But the King of kings and Lord of lords will be victorious.  In the meantime, there must be no compromise.

N.T. Wright. Revelation for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.175.

If you are under some kinds of attack from Satan's dark force, you can relax now. Why? Because the final outcome of all Satan's work will be failed. Be assured that this will happen.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Satan, game over

What I receive from Jesus today is a wonderful assurance that Satan will soon be defeated and destroyed. It is somewhat like Satan is playing a game with you leading you to a trap. But, if you can stand firm and do not make any compromise with him, then at last he will be defeated, by Jesus, game over.

Remember, what you need is to stand firm, no compromise, and he will be game over! If not, you will be game over!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to stand firm and be willing to make no compromise with Satan's cunning tricks. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords. Only you can defeat him.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
