Bible Study

John gives us a powerful scene in heaven before the angels pours out the seven last plagues. Wow! That's glorious!

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

What is it that attracts people to the Christian message?  What is it that draws them to worship the God whom Christians call 'father'?  If you went round your local church and asked people that, you would get a wide variety of answers
The short but powerful song gives a quite different sort of reason why not only individuals but nations will come and worship the true and living God: 'your judgments have been revealed'….
What are the 'judgments' of God?  How have they been 'revealed'?  And how has this brought the nations to worship?
Then the Bible speaks about God 'judging', or putting into effect his 'judgments', it is just as much a cause for celebration as for anxiety
The nations will look on and say to themselves, 'There really is a God in Israel;  there really is a God who puts things right, who judges the earth' (see Psalm 58.11).  And, saying that, they will come to worship him.

N.T. Wright. Revelation for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.136-138.

What is it that draws you to worship Jesus as Lord? Are you sure that God is so real and that you can really worship Him all the times of your life?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: God is so real!  Let's come and worship Him!

What I receive today is an echo to what happened yesterday in Moncton, New Brunswick. Michelle and I came to Moncton Tuesday afternoon. We had two wonderful days staying with the Rector of Christ the Redeemer Church which joined Anglican Mission - Canada just a few months ago. Rev. Don Hamilton and his wife Jean demonstrated their gift of hospitality and we had some wonderful deep sharing for that two days. Yesterday we had an Eucharist with some of their parishioners in their home. A miracle happened! The daughter of Don's nephew, her name is Raeann experienced the presence of God greatly that she asked her dad to ask Don if she could be baptized after the Eucharist. Raeann has been holding up to say YES to Jesus for quite some time and she told me that after my sermon title "Jesus is Lord - Say YES Lord" she decided to say YES to Jesus.

That was such a powerful worship experience we all had in both the Eucharist and the Baptism of Raeann. Don and Jean's home is just on the beach. That is the first total immersion baptism for both Don and me. Glorious!

That's how Raeann and us experienced the power of worshipping God. And, that's how John describes the power of worshipping God up there in heaven in today's passage.

Let me share with you some wonderful pictures we took for us to give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, God is so real! Jesus is Lord! Let's come and worship Him!

Dear Lord Jesus,
We give thanks to you of what we experienced in Moncton, New Brunswick yesterday. We ask you to bless Raeann that she can know you more each day and can be with you more each day. We ask you to bless all the parishioners of Christ the Redeemer Church that they can be freshly anointed by you and that they can be a true witness to your glorious and mighty works.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
