Bible Study

Today's passage is perhaps one of the most powerful passages in the Bible. All those severe disasters as described in the previous chapters are to have the Kingdom of God happens on earth once again after His mighty creation and the fall of mankind.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Far too many Christians have understood 'the kingdom' simply in terms of 'God's kingdom in heaven', meaning by that that God is in charge in a place called 'heaven' (as opposed to this messy place called 'earth', from which God wants to rescue us), and that the main aim of life is to 'enter the kingdom of heaven' in the sense of 'going to heaven when you die'.  Perhaps one of the many reasons why Revelation has been literally a closed book for so many, and for so much of the church, is that it powerfully and dramatically contradicts this popular view.  God's kingdom is not simply designed for 'heaven', because God is the creator of the whole world, and his entire purpose is to reclaim that whole world as his own and to set it on the way to become the place he always intended it to be, before human rebellion pulled it so disastrously off track.

Has the time come yet to you now? Is Jesus your Lord and King? Are you willing to let Jesus to give commands to you as your Lord and King?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: The time has come! Jesus is our Lord and King!

What I got from Jesus today is a lot of memories of my spiritual journey. Of how difficult it is for Jesus really can reign in my daily life and that I am willing to receive orders from Him daily as a soldier receives order from his captain and the order originally comes from the king. Talking about Jesus is Lord and King is so easy, but having Jesus as Lord and King is so difficult.

Today's passage is the central theme of the Hallelujah chorus in Handel's Messiah which made King George II to stand up when the first note sounded in the premiere concert in London, 1743. And from now on, people have to stand when the chorus is performed.  I have conducted the Hallelujah chorus numerous time since I became a choir conductor when I was only 19. Every time when I conducted this chorus, God has something to tell me. Something like to be humble, to be holy, to worship Him with everything I have, to worship Him with the angels and archangels and more. Especially now when I am writing this blog I have a very strong sense of God's presence and the music of Hallelujah chorus has been in my mind for an hour since I started to prepare this blog and podcast. So, let's listen to this chorus now and worship our King who is King of kings and Lord of lords. The version we are going to listen is from a concert I conducted the Schola Cantorum Emmanuel almost three years ago in memory of my spiritual father Rev. Dr. John Stott, December 2011.

Dear Lord Jesus,
You are our Lord and King. Change our lives that we can be teachable and obedient to you as our Lord and King.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

By the way, thank you for your prayers yesterday for Mr. Lam. Some complication happened last night that Michelle and I did not have a chance to meet him. It is now a kind of mission impossible to us. Please pray on.
