Please click this link to read Colossians 1:

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, wo that in everything he might have the supremacy. Colossians 1: 15-18

What I heard from Jesus today is: Jesus is your only hope!

What do you think of the message that Jesus is your only hope? If you are going to die in a year's time, will this message become more important to you?

Please tell me what you think after reading this historical fact of what was going to happen two years after wrote the letter to the Colossians: Colossae, Laodicea, and Hierapolis were three closely-situated cities mentioned by Paul in the New Testament, each possessing Christians.

These cities were the target of a devastating earthquake around AD 60-62, probably just after Paul wrote his letters to the Christians of that area. According to historians, all three cities were destroyed.

Realizing these words were written to Christians who may have been on the brink of disaster highlights the need that we should always be prepared to meet God.

What do you feel? Shock, sad or full of tears?

The church at Colossae started during Pauls three year ministry in Ephesus(A.D. 52-55). It was not found by Paul and Paul was never been to Colossae. It was found by Paul's apprentice Epaphras who got saved by Paul teaching and returned to his hometown and started the Colossian church. The purpose for Paul to write this letter is to tell the Colossians to hold fast to the one way of salvation in Christ, in contrast to false teaching.

But, the Colossians never knew they just had two more years to live. Do you know how long are you going to live? Remember, Jesus is your only hope!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know that no one knows whether there is a tomorrow and that you are our only hope. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Philippians 4:

I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you , loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Philippians 4: 2-3

What I heard from Jesus today is: No joy, no peace, when we disagree!

The problem in the church of Philippi was the disagreement among the two women leaders. Paul did not tell us what happened, instead he told us that quarrel and disagreement hurt the church. Paul even used an example that all the leaders in Philippi worked with Paul as loyal yokefellow for Christ and in Christ. All their names were in the book of life. So, how can they disagree with others like that? Who won?

Paul asked them to pray hard (v. 6)and followed his example (v. 9) because he could do everything through the Lord who gave him strength (v. 13).

I have seen too many quarrel and disagreement among Christian leaders. It is so sad that we as leaders do not use all the time to enjoy the "partnership in the gospel" (Philippians 1: 5) but waste so much time in thinking how bad other people are, stirring up rumor, misunderstanding and dissension, quarrelling and disagreeing with each other. Why? Who win?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to agree with each other in you and that we can taste the joy of the partnership in the gospel . In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Philippians 3:

Jesus asked me to count the total number of the word "Joy", "glad" and "rejoice" and I can find 16 time in the four chapters of Philippians. Paul says "rejoice" is a safeguard for those Christians in Philipi.

Wow! "Rejoice" is a safeguard for us as Christians. What is a safeguard? According to Oxford dictionary, a safeguard is the thing that serves as a protection from harm, risk or danger. Like cycling without a helmet, boating without a life-vest or fighting a war without a bulletproof vest.

If you cannot have joy and rejoice daily, then you are in great danger! The reasons for Paul to rejoice were different from before he knew Christ. His purpose, his direction, his goal and everything changed. And the changing of all those things gave him joy!

Do you have joy today? If you do not have joy today, then it is a checkmark for you to reveal what happen in your life so that you can experience the joy in Christ again!

Don't forget:

A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverb 17: 22

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to rejoice everyday. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Philippians 2:

Paul wrote this letter to the Philippian Christians from the prison in Rome to thank them for their recent generous gift brought to him by Epaphroditus (4: 14-19) and to inform them of his present circumstances. The church in Philippi was founded by Paul and his team of co-workers namely Silas, Timothy and Luke on his second missionary journey.

Unlike many of Paul's letters, Philippians was not written because of church problems or conflicts. The whole letter is full of gracious affection and appreciation for the congregation. From greeting (1:1) to closing (4:23), the letter focuses on Christ Jesus as the purpose for living, the source of joy and the hope for eternal life for all who follow him. United with Christ(2:1) and living a life of Christlikeness (2:5) is the only way for unity and we need to work out our salvation (2:12) so that we can taste the fruit of "like-minded".

We like to be with like-minded friends but what Paul means is not what we mean like-minded. What I got today is a very simple message from Jesus:
Christlikeness begets like-minded Christians, and like-minded Christians begets unity.

There is no unity when people are doing things out of selfish ambition, vain conceit (2: 3), full of complaint and argument (2:14). Christlikeness is the only way to unity!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to live a life of Christlikeness so that we can taste the power and sweetness of unity. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Philippians 1 :
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1: 3-6

What I heard from Jesus today is: Enjoy the partnership in the Gospel!

Every time I read Paul's letter I felt the joy and security he had because of his partnership with Christ and with other leaders. How blessed he was to have so many partners in the Gospel. I think Paul used lots of time to pray for his partners for he had many.

How about you? How do you enjoy the partnership in the Gospel? How many partners have you got? How do you pray for them? Do you enjoy the partnership? Can you start to pray for more partners in the Gospel today?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know that you have prepared enough partners in the Gospel for us. Lead us to them and make us to enjoy everyday because of those partnership. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Ephesians 6:
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6: 11-12

What I heard from Jesus today is: How can you fight the devil's schemes!

Remember the topic I got from Jesus the past five days since we started to read Ephesians?
Sunday I in Christ, you in Christ, we in Christ
Monday In Christ everything is built
Tuesday If you really know the mystery of Christ then ...
Wednesday No more one man band
Thursday It's all about relationship and lifestyle

All these won't happen to us because we are not able to fight the devil's schemes. Satan was an Archangel; do you think you can fight against him? Remember that God sent an angel to king Hezekiah and that angel killed a hundred and eighty-five thousand soldiers in the Assyrian army(2 Kings 19: 35)?

According to Paul you need three things to fight the devil's schemes because Satan will try all his best not letting God's plan to work in your life! The three things are:
1. Put on the full armor of God (6: 13 - 17)
2. Be in the Holy Spirit (6: 18)
3. Always prayers first (6: 18)

I pray and hope that you take Paul's advice seriously because there is no other way for you to fight the devil's schemes!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to put on the full armor of God, be in the Holy Spirit and always prayers first. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Ephesians 5:
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5: 1-2

What I heard from Jesus today is: It's all about relationship and lifestyle!

Life is all about your relationship with God whether you can be imitators of God(v.1) and whether you live a life of life just as Christ and that is Christlikeness. Nothing more, nothing less!

We have so many people to imitate but rarely try all our best to imitate God. Paul was talking about like imitating your father or your mentor that you have a personal relationship with. How is your daily intimate relationship with God? Without that you have no one to imitate, right? With that you lifestyle will be changed too because that should be the direct result of imitating someone. If you imitate Elvis, then you would dress like him and look like him. If you imitate God, then you will not do the things Paul says not do in this chapter and will do the things Paul says that you need to do in this chapter. Can you have a kind of spiritual body check up now according to the lifestyle in this chapter. And, the last part of this chapter to the first part of next chapter is about how we live out a Christlike relationship between wives and husbands, children and parents, slaves and master.

Well, as I say, it's all about relationship and lifestyle. Nothing more, nothing less!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to enter into that relationship and lifestyle that we will be transformed day after day to be more like you. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Ephesians 4:
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4: 11-13

What I heard from Jesus today is: No more one man band!

Paul talks about the importance of the oneness in Christ. There are so many "one" in this chapter - one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God.

Do you know why this "oneness" can not happen in most churches? According to Paul in this chapter it is because we are not able to join and hold together as one body. Paul talks about the fivefold ministry: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Can one person be all that? What is your major role in this fivefold ministry, do you know? If you are a teacher and you want to take also an evangelist role, if you are a pastor and you want also to be a prophet, if you are an evangelist and you want to be an apostle, if you are an apostle and you want to be a teacher... Well, may be you have numerous gifts and you really can do all five, but do you have the strength and time to do all those? Why don't you pray and ask the Lord to open your eyes to see those helpers around you and to understand your major role so that you don't waste much time and that you can start to build the body of Christ acknowledging that you are just one small part in His body? There are too many one man band leaders, please don't be one of them!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know our major role and that we are just a small part of your body. Lead us to try all our best to join in others and cooperate with others to build up your body. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
