"I am the Lord who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy."

"You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten." Leviticus 11: 45, 47

What I got from Jesus today is: Holy or unholy?

As I said before, lots of Christians stop reading this kind of chapters talking about those rules do not concern with us anymore. But, we need to know that God wanted to teach His people what was holy and unholy using His own way in His own time. And the bottom line is that when God says it is holy then it is holy and when God says it is not holy it is unholy, so simple.

At that time people had Moses told them what God told him what is holy. Now, most of the time we have similar things as the Church tells us what we need to do and what need to do according to the Bible. But, is that all? What about when the Church tells you that the "unholy" is now "holy"? It is for this reason we, Christians of Anglican Mission left the Episcopal Church of America and the Anglican Church of Canada many years ago.

We need to be able to distinguish what is holy and unholy. To be able to do that we need to learn more through the Bible, the Church and most of all our daily intimate personal relationship with God. Without those kinds of connections and relationship we will never be able to distinguish what is holy and unholy!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to distinguish what is holy and unholy. Guide us in our daily walk and relationship with you that we can have that kind of discernment. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Leviticus 10

"You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean, and you must teach the Israelites all the decrees the Lord has given them through Moses." Leviticus 10: 10-11

What I got from Jesus today is: Disobey, dishonor, die!

What a contrast of this chapter to the last one!

You must be thinking and asking, "Why such a severe punishment? Was that too much?"

You can find the answer from what God told Aaron through Moses:

"Among those who approach me I will show myself holy;
in the sight of all the people I will be honored."
Aaron remained silent. Leviticus 10: 3

Then from what God told Aaron personally:

"You must distinguish between the holy and the common,
between the unclean and the clean,
and you must teach the Israelites all the decrees the Lord has given them through Moses."
Leviticus 10: 10-11

That the job of priests to honor God, to be able to distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean and to teach the law of God. You need to know that this tragedy happened in the very beginning of Aaron and his four sons to exercise a priestly function. God killed them to teach the Israelites a big lesson so that they would not do the same mistake again!

Do not think that you can get away from this kind of punishment because you are not a priest. Because Jesus just told me to give you this verse to memorize reminding you that you are a priest in His sight:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2: 9

What did Jesus tell you today through this post? What have you received from Jesus today?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to honor you with everything we've got that you can work through us to bring people out of darkness into Your wonderful light. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
