Cush also had Nimrod. He was the first great warrior on Earth. He was a great hunter before God. There was a saying, "Like Nimrod, a great hunter before God." His kingdom got its start with Babel; then Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the country of Shinar. From there he went up to Asshur and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and the great city Calah. Genesis 10: 8-12
What I received from Jesus today is: A mighty hunter before the Lord!
This chapter is to reveal how all the nations and people of the earth descended from Noah and his sons after the flood. There are names after names to describe the descendants of Japheth(vv. 2-5), Ham(vv. 6-20) and Shem(vv. 21-31). Nimrod is the only name with a detailed description of how mighty he was. He was being described as a mighty hunter before the Lord. What kind of hunting he had that he could have his kingdom and great cities.
May we be mighty hunters before the Lord to hunt for souls for His Kingdom!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be mighty hunters to hunt for souls for your Kingdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

What I received from Jesus today is: Have you established your covenant?
Today Jesus reminds me of those time I made promises to Him since I was very young until now. Rarely I kept my promises! And I know that He always keeps His promises! How about you?
Why? I think this is a relational question. The more we are close to Jesus, the more we love Him and the more we can keep our promises. It's only a loving relationship that can keeps someone to a promise, a covenant!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to have a better relationship with you day by day that we can keep our promises to you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month - on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.
Genese 7: 11
By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.
Genesis 8: 13-14
What I received from Jesus today is: One year of listen, obey and wait!
I've got two things from Jesus today:
1. Is one year of listen, obey and wait too long for you? What do you think Noah would think in that one whole year of waiting after his listen and obey?
The listening and obey is difficult, but once after you have listened and obeyed the waiting period might be more difficult. It is a hard work for a farmer to do this farming work and when he did all that he could do the most important thing is to wait for the harvest to come. So, are you waiting for something to happen? Have you done your listen and obey part?
2. What would you do after your waiting to experience a harvest?
For Noah, he built and altar and sacrificed burnt offerings on it. Are you willing to offer to the Lord something you considered as "sacrifice"?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to listen and obey and be able to wait, even for a year or more for the harvest to come. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.
Genesis 7: 8-9
What I received from Jesus today is: Where did Noah search for all those animals?
Noah did not need to search for them, they came to Noah in pairs! What Noah needed to do is to build the ark exactly as what God commanded him to do. Then, a wonderful picture happened! Noah and his family saw those animals and creatures came in like a parade! How would you think at that time if you were Noah?
You do you best, God will do the rest!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for giving us this wonderful picture of how those animals and creatures came to Noah in pairs. Help us to have faith to do what you command us to do trusting that you will do all the rest. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

The Lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the Lord said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth - men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air - for I am grieved that I have made them." But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Genesis 6: 5-8
What I received from Jesus today is: Wickedness or Christlikeness!
What I got from Jesus today is a total opposite picture of yesterday's topic. Yesterday the topic was "Leaving a Legacy of Christlikeness". But today it is the "wickedness" that men and women were thinking and doing all the days of their lives.
When God created this world he was so joyful saying, "Good! Good! Very good!!!". But, after 11 generations it turned out to be not a legacy of Godlikeness but a legacy of wickedness and everything was "Bad! Bad! Very Bad!!!" It even hints the downfall of angels from verses 1 to 4 of how those angels did things according to what they wanted and needed. God was in great pain and it was time for God to do what he had to do!
What are you thinking and doing recently? Wickedness or Christlikeness? How can you help your relative and friends to turn from wickedness to Christlikeness?
Have you prepared yourself to be a Noah or those who will soon be wiped away by the Lord?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to focus our thoughts on you daily so that we can do the works you prepare for us to do daily. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man." Genesis 5: 1-2
What I received from Jesus today is: Leaving a legacy of Christlikeness!
When I received the topic from Jesus today I think of my spiritual father John Stott who completed his earthly journey and finish well on July 27 this year. He was single all the time of his life. But, he leaved a legacy of Christlikeness that is beyond anyone can imagine. Though he has no son or daughter but he has many, many sons and daughters in Christ and his influence will be generations and generations.
This chapter starts from Adam and finished at Shem, Ham and Japheth, a total of 11 generations. Do you think you can leave a legacy of Christlikeness for 11 generations? How do you spend your time, energy, money and everything to raise up at least two generations? That can be in two folds:
1. You sons, daughters, grandsons and grand-daughters.
2. You being a discipler and mentor raise up your second generation of leaders and train them to raise up their second generation.
God will richly bless you if you are willing to do this and many will be blessed by your willingness to leave a legacy of Christlikeness!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to try everything we can to raise up a legacy of Christlikeness. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Genesis 4: 6-7
What I received from Jesus today is: Master the crouching tiger!
Sin is like a crouching tiger at your door! Is that terrible? Do you think you can master that crouching tiger when it comes to you? For Eve that might be greed, for Adam that might be pride, for Cain that might be jealous and for you...what could that be? If Eve could not master sin, if Adam could not master sin, if Cain could not master sin, how can you master sin?
Without our Lord Jesus Christ I don't think there is anybody who can master sin! We need Jesus to get through all the temptations and trails!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to get through all the temptations and trails because only you can master the crouching tiger. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
