OT DAY 573 - God Thrusts out His Own People from His Presence (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

      You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
          your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
           none can compare with you!
        I will proclaim and tell of them,
          yet they are more than can be told.
        In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted,
           but you have given me an open ear.
        Burnt offering and sin offering
           you have not required.

       Then I said, “Behold, I have come;
           in the scroll of the book it is written of me:
        I delight to do your will, O my God;
           your law is within my heart.”

                                                             Psalm 40:5-8

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (2 Kings 24:17-20)

17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lordaccording to all that Jehoiakim had done.20 For because of the anger of the Lord it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he cast them out from his presence.
                                                                2 Kings 24:17-20
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

    My Listening

           Today's passage has only four verses, but these four verses give us a picture of what God would do to His own people if they continually live in their sinful tradition and lifestyle.
           God will thrust His own people from His presence!
           Can you get the picture God wants to give us?
           God's presence is always with His own people, unless we continually live in our sinful lifestyle or cannot take out those poisonous sins of our ancestors like how they still followed King Manasseh's sins.
           Once God's people cross over God's bottom line and God will thrust them out of His presence which means God will leave them and let them to be destroyed by their enemies.
           On a positive side, today's passage reminds us of how important it is for us to be with God each day and enjoy God's presence daily.
           That is why we are so joyful each day as many of us are willing to gather together to copy the Bible enjoying God's presence with us each morning!
           I sincerely hope and pray that you can join in this wonderful new lifestyle to enjoy God's presence each day with brothers and sisters. We have a better chance to keep this lifestyle with lots of faithful Christians together daily rather than we do that alone because we are lazy! Laziness will soon pull us away from God's presence!

    Dear Lord Jesus,
    Lead us to be in your presence each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. How do you feel about God's thrusting His own people from His presence?

2. Is it difficult for you to have more time to be in God's presence daily? Why is it so difficult?

    3. What have you got from Jesus today?
