“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."
The Word, Time with Abba (Psalm 115:1-8, Jeremiah 19:1-21:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:4-28; Proverbs 25:8-10)
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-18
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to him.
My Listening The topic I received today from Jesus is: How to live out God's will for you in Christ Jesus?
We always want to seek for God's will for our lives, right? Today's 1 Thessalonians 5:12-18 is the concluding message for Paul of this book and that is exactly what we need. Paul teaches us what does it means by living out God's will for us and what do we need to treat our brothers and sisters in our home church: 1. We need to acknowledge and hold the highest regard in love to those servants sent by God to care for us and admonish us.
2. Live in peace with each other.
3. To warn those who are lazy and disruptive.
4. To encourage the disheartened, help the weak and be patient with everyone.
5. Alway strive to do what is good.
6. Always joyful.
7. Pray continuously.
8. Always thankful.
But, we really can't do that because we are human! Without the last sentence of those verses we can't do it, and that is:
"for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
If we are not in Christ Jesus each day, those eight points won't happen. Without Christ Jesus each day, may be we'll live out the opposite lifestyle!
Dear Lord Jesus, Help us to be in you each day that we can live out that eight points as our life testimony. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-18
Reflect on these questions: 1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now? 2. What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do? Family Corner: Find an opportunity to share with your family the importance of today's message.
