“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."
The Word, Time with Abba (Psalm 119:1-8, Jeremiah 39:1-41:18; 2 Timothy 1:1-18; Proverbs 26:1-2)
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, in keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my dear son: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
2 Timothy 1:1-12
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to him.
My Listening The topic I received today from Jesus is: Fan into flame your three positions appointed by Jesus!
Paul told Timothy through today's 2 Timothy 1:1-12 that Timothy had three appointed positions by Jesus and he should not be afraid to live out that three positions. Paul reminded Timothy of his positions in Christ is because he passed the baton to Timothy to become a bishop to take care of the church in Ephesus. But Timothy thought that he was too young to take this important role as a bishop. Paul wanted to fan into flame these three positions of Timothy: 1. A herald(Evangelist): Paul reminded Timothy that Timothy had four evangelists to pass the Gospel to him and they were his grandmother Lois, his mother Eunice, Jesus and Paul.
2. Apostle(Bishop, Planter, Pioneer): Paul reminded Timothy that Timothy was being appointed by Jesus through Paul to become an apostle and he needed to follow Paul's example to plant for more house groups and churches.
3. Teacher(Mentor): Paul reminded Timothy that Paul had used a lot of time and everything as his mentor to raise him up and Timothy had to be a good mentor to raise up more disciples for Christ.
May you be able to give thanks to the Lord for His sending His many servants as evangelists, apostles and mentors to raise you up to be a faithful servant of Jesus and that you are willing to live out these three important positions Jesus has given you to be His disciple!
Dear Lord Jesus, Help us to be willing to fan into flame by you so that we can live out these three appointed positions. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Reflect on these questions: 1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now? 2. What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do? Family Corner: Find an opportunity to share with your family the importance of today's message.
