Please click this link to read Acts 17:

Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thesalonians , for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17: 11

What I heard from Jesus today is: Teaching God's Word everyday.

This chapter inspires us that we should not waste our time on those people who do not want to listen and learn. Instead, we need to use our time to those who are ready and willing to learn. Those who are "teachable"!

Are you teachable?!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be teachable. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Acts 16:

paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. Acts 16: 6-7

What I heard from Jesus today is: How well do you know the Holy Spirit?

Paul knew the Holy Spirit so well that he obeyed what the Holy Spirit told him to do. Stop! Then he stopped. Go! Then he go. It was a relationship, a relationship with the Holy Spirit. With this relationship Paul could exercise those gifts the Holy Spirit empowered him like gift of knowledge, gift of prophecy, gift of healing and many more.

How well do you know the Holy Spirit that you know when to stop and when to go?

Dear Holy Spirit,
Come and fill me that I know what you want me to do and have the courage to do it. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

What I heard from Jesus today is: Need more encouragements!

This chapter records how the Church solved disagreement by calling the Council of Jerusalem. And at the end of this chapter records the sharp disagreement of Paul and Barnabas that they went on their own way.

But if you read carefully you can find out there were many encouragements and strengthening on those crisis of disagreements. They got a way out that the gentiles did not need to have circumcision, Barnabas gave a second chance to John Mark and there so many encouragements in the midst of those disagreements.

There are always so many disagreements but what we desperately need are encouragements! Please try all your best to encourage and strengthen other people. Stop all kinds of stupid disagreements please!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to encourage and strengthen other people. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Acts 14:
When I saw the horrible scene of the riot in Vancouver downtown I have been so sad for quite some hours! The disappointment of losing a hockey match could stir up a riot like that. Why?

As Paul and Barnabas encouraged and warned to the disciples of how they needed to go through many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God, we should take their warning too. It is so easy to live under praise, victory and success. But it is not easy to accept failure, losing, defeated and hopeless. But as disciples of Christ we have to be prepare to go through all those failure, losing, defeated, hopeless and many more hardship in our lives to enter the Kingdom of God.

Two weeks of Winter Olympic turned Vancouver into a world class city. But two hours of disappointment and anger turned Vancouver into a "mad" city! Why?

Are you prepared to go through many hardships for Jesus?!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be prepared to go through many hardships because of you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Acts 13:

Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first... When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. Acts 13: 46, 48-49

What I received from Jesus today is: Speak the Word of God boldly!

What I got from Jesus today is wonderful. He reminds me that those apostles and disciples of Him could speak the Word of God boldly in three tenses:
1. Past tense: Paul and the other apostles and disciples of Jesus knew the past events well and they could tell the story of God's salvation well.

2. Present tense: Paul and the others were always filled with the Spirit and with Jesus that they could speak not only those past historical events of God's salvation but also the present tense of what God wanted them to say at each suitable moments.

3. Future tense: As prophets Paul and the others speak in future tense.

How well can you speak these three tenses boldly? It all started with fasting and prayers (v. 3), laying on of hands by God's servants (v. 3) and the filling of the Holy Spirit (v. 9). How are you willing to use those spiritual ways to be filled by the Holy Spirit that you can speak the Word of God boldly?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to speak the Word of God boldly and to know the ways to do it. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Acts 12:

Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod's clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating." Acts 12: 11

What I received from Jesus today is: Do you know without a doubt now?

I was in a kind of shock when Jesus led me to ponder upon verse 11! He reminded me of how the prodigal son "came to his senses" (Luke 15: 17). Peter might be in a kind of mentality like the prodigal son when he was in the prison without any help.

Lots of time when we are in great trouble we ask why and have lots of doubt. This time God sent an angle to save Peter miraculous but next time Peter did not need that. What do you need from God so that you know that God is your Lord without a doubt? Has He given your enough confirmation already that you can face your unknown future without a doubt?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to count your blessings that I can face the unknown future without a doubt. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Acts 11:

When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life." Acts 11: 18

What I received from Jesus today is: Do you have a story to tell!

Peter told his personal story of how he experienced the call the the gentiles and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And then everybody got that was from God and praised God!

Do you have a personal story to tell like what Peter did to witness how powerful Holy Spirit is?

Come, Holy Spirit, Come,
Fill us and pour down your fresh anointing that we can be a story-telling disciple of Christ. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
