Please click this link to read Ephesians 3:
This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 3: 6

What I heard from Jesus today is: If you really know the mystery of Christ, then...

If your first child is born, who would you call to spread the good news? If you find a wonderful restaurant, who would you call? Today Michelle and I had a nice one day trip to a town "Fairhaven" recommended by two good friends just yesterday. We went right away trying to see how good that town is. We found a wonderful store selling just olive oil and I took quite a number of their business cards to recommend that store to our friends. Have you got my point? Whenever you have some kind of wonderful experience you will have the "fire" trying to tell someone to share you joy.

Paul tells everybody that the most important and exciting thing in his life is he found out the mystery of Christ and that is gentiles also can be saved and we need to use all we have got to spread the Good News to all people. There are usually only less than 10% of Christians having daily devotion and there are less Christians willing to lead their non-Christian relatives and friends to Jesus. If you really know the mystery of Christ is to lead "gentiles" to Christ, why you can't work harder to fulfill Jesus Great Commission?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to try all our best and to use our best to fulfill your Great Commission. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Ephesians 2:
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1: 13-14

What I heard from Jesus today is: In Christ everything is built!

I have seen too many examples of Christians still live in a life following the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air. I have seen too many examples of Christians who have the spirit as described by Paul in 2: 2 of working inside those who are disobedient. We have too many Christians still gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts.

Have we been saved? This kind of thing can't happen, why? Something is very wrong. What I got from this chapter is if we are not in Christ then everything is destroyed. Only if we are in Christ then everything is built. We really need to be in Christ! How much "in Christ" are you lately?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be in you daily. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1: 13-14

What I heard from Jesus today is: I in Christ, you in Christ, we in Christ!

Ephesians was the city Paul spent the most time. In his third missionary journey he changed his strategy from his first missionary journey of a one man band work to his second missionary journey raising up apprentices like Silas and Timothy to his paradigm shift in his third missionary journey to establish the lecture hall of Tyrannus in Ephesus to train missionaries.

Paul's purpose for writing Ephesians is implied in 1: 15-18. He desires for the Ephesians to grow in faith, love and wisdom regarding what God the Father has already done for them and revealed to them through his Son, Jesus Christ. His aim is that they might better know God, understand his purpose for them and live in a way that is worthy of identifying with Jesus Christ as Leader of their lives. He tries to strengthen their faith and spiritual foundation by revealing a more complete picture of God's eternal purpose of spiritual salvation and restoration "in Christ". He applies this to the church and to individuals.

What I got from Jesus is that the importance of "in Christ". I carefully counted that the word "in Christ" appears 12 times in this chapter(v.3,4,6,7,9,11,12,13(two times), 15, 20 and 22. I got three points:
1. We need to be "in Christ" always
2. God's purpose is for all he has chosen to be "in Christ"
3. We need to use our spiritual gifts to lead more people in Christ to fulfill God's purpose

So, in short that is "I in Christ, you in Christ, we in Christ"!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to taste the sweetness and to receive the gifts to be in Christ and to be able to lead others in Christ. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Galatians 6:
Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6: 1

What I heard from Jesus today is: To restore gently!

Well, this chapter seems the second part of what I wrote in my previous blog of Job 34. Please take a look through this link: http://bishopsilas.blogspot.com/

If we follow what Paul says in chapter 5, the sin that Paul is talking about is not small thing. But the attitude we need to have is to restore that person in a gentle way. What Job's friends did was not to restore but to accuse and in a very ugly way.

There is one thing we need to know before we can take a step to restore. We need to be "spiritual"! In line with what Paul is saying in chapter 5 it means we need to live by the Spirit(5:16), led by the Spirit(5:18)and keep in step with the Spirit(5: 25). By that kind of "spiritual" and the fruit of the Spirit in us God can use us to "restore" someone to a life of Christlikeness.

And, Paul reminds us that we need to watch out for we also can fall into some kind of temptation!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to give other people chances and know how to restore them gently. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Galatians 5:

What I heard from Jesus today is: Don't be enslaved again!

Wow, Jesus gave me a vivid picture of the difference of two Kingdom! If we are being set free by Jesus then we are working with Him to extend His Kingdom. It's like the picture Ignatius took in Ethiopia two years ago above. It is exactly what Jesus means when he says:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 28-30

So imagine you are one of the cow and Jesus is the other one bearing the same yoke to plow God's field and make it fruitful. Then you will bear much fruit as in John 15 of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, one fruit and nine lifestyles of Christlikeness.

But, it is always so sad that we do not want to take that yoke to plow God's field with Jesus. Lots of people rather bear the chain of a slave on their necks enslaved by the world, the devil or some other things. Then their lives would be filled with those sexual immorality, impurity...

Which yoke would you prefer to bear. Are you being set free by Jesus?

Why don't you say a prayer and ask Jesus to shine His light on you that you can see what kind of yoke you are bearing and who's on your side? Please do that and you'll know what I mean!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Shine you light on us that we are able to see what kind of yoke we are bearing and who is on our side plow the field. Also, help us to see what kind of field do we use all our time plowing. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Galatians 4:
Do you know how I feel right now, and will feel until Christ's life becomes visible in your lives? Like a mother in the pain of childbirth. Oh, I keep wishing that I was with you. Then I wouldn't be reduced to this blunt, letter-writing language out of sheer frustration. Galatians 4: 19-20

What I heard from Jesus today is: Like a mother in the pain of childbirth!

Why Paul needed to use those difficult and blunt words to write to the Galatians? Paul says it was because he was like a mother in the pain of childbirth. Why? Because to train disciples of Christ until Christ's life becomes visible in their lives is "mission impossible". Even if you feel like a mother in the pain of childbirth!

That's why Uncle John(John Stott) told me and Ignatius two years ago in London that the most important word in his life is "Christlikeness". To have Christlikeness to become visible in people's life used up Uncle John's whole life! And that's worthwhile!

Come Holy Spirit, come and fill us that Christlikeness can become visible in our lives. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Please click this link to read Galatians 3:

I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observaing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Galatians 3: 2-3

What I heard from Jesus today is: Did you receive the Holy Spirit?

Paul challenged the Galatians of a very important question. A question to test whether they are on the "doing" mode or the "being" mode. A question to test whether they were in God's promise or not in His promise.

There are too many Christians still in the "doing" mode thinking that the more they do the better Christians they could become. Without "being" with Jesus daily, the daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus we can hardly be filled by the Holy Spirit.

My spiritual father John Stott was perhaps one of the most Spirit filled Christian leader in human history. Please click this link to hear how he wanted to be remembered:

Come Holy Spirit, come and fill us that we will lead a life of Christlikeness in both "being" and "doing" to honor your Holy Name and to extend your Kingdom. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
