Matthew 20: 15

This is what I SMS text message to our son Ignatius' cell phone shortly before touched down at the Vancouver International Airport:

My plane lost right wheel. Crash landing now. Captain said all fire engines are on runway now. Pray!

What happened? Well, I just escaped a crash landing!!!

40 minutes before touch down the captain said, "I need all of you to know there is something happening here. Our right wheel has a problem. This is what it might happen when we land. The right wheel is not going to come out or there is no brake in the right wheel. So if there is no brake in the right wheel then when we land you will hear loud sound of the wheel and the right wheel will explode and we will land in the middle of the runway. There will be all kinds of fire-engines surrounding us and there will be buses coming out to get you to the terminal. So, don't worry, we will be fine!"

A few minutes before the touch down, the guy sitting next to me said to me, "Don't worry, the right wheel is out!" Later I asked him whether he is a pilot and he said he is but flying small planes. He said it would really be a big deal if any of the situation happened!

Once Ignatius received my SMS message Michelle got our two sons to pray for us right away. A few seconds before the touch down Ignatius sent me this:

We are praying...

At that time I saw quite a number of people around me putting their heads down like praying and I hoped they were really praying. Then loud clapping and joyful sound was all over the cabinet after we touch down and nothing happened!

Our life is not in our control! I believe this is God's timing to give us a message today because today's real message I got from Jesus in this chapter is:

Are you as generous as God is?

Our speaker Gary Hoag shared with us many moving stories of how the Lord gave him a ministry called "Generosity Monk" a few years ago and he calls himself Generosity Monk after that. One of those is about his grandfather of how he donated lots and lots of money to his town during the US depression periods in the '40s and there is his grandfather's status right in front of the city hall now. Another one is about during his father's funeral many people came to him telling him how generous his father was helping them to overcome many difficult times by giving them money without anyone knowing. And now Gary becomes an important servant of God helping denominations, Christian organizations, churches and Christians to understand and exercise a biblical based theology of Stewardship.

God is generous, how come we as children of God is not generous but become envious, grumbling, critical and unable to give?

I am going to put up the link to an important and paradigm changing talk of Bishop Chuck Murphy, our Chairman bishop, in our first Regional Conference at Richmond Emmanuel Church last October for you to watch hoping and praying that you will become a generous servant of God and that you will be transformed from a "Two-Kingdom Bondage to One-Kingdom Freedom"(Chapter 2 in Part 1 of Gary's book The Sower). You can not serve God and money. Jesus is Lord!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to follow your example to be able to give freely. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to encourage those who join our Disciplers 123 to have a place to start their daily devotion - a wonderful and intimate time with Jesus. There are three reasons for you to use this blog as your daily devotion:

  1. A healthy spiritual diet - One chapter of the Bible daily. We really need at least one chapter of Bible daily so that we are well fed.

  2. A good example of Spiritual Journaling - What I have committed for 1,189 days(the Bible has 1,189 chapters) to write this daily post is not for teaching purposes but this is my daily spiritual journal - I write down what I hear from Jesus and how I experience His intimate relationship with me each day. I have launched a wide-spectrum research on daily devotion and have found out that there are less than 10% of Christians that are having daily devotion. Out of that 10%, many having daily devotion are doing so because of guilt (they know that they are Christians and need to have daily devotion and feel guilty if they don’t do that), duty (they need to fulfill their duty as a Christian) or study(lots of Christians primarily use their daily devotion as a time to study the Bible). I do pray and hope that you will make up your mind to have a relational daily devotion so that you can have an intimate time with Jesus. I pray that you will write your own spiritual journal as well.

  3. An online discipler – One of the reasons that so many Christians do not have daily devotion is because they do not have a discipler. A discipler can help them build up this basic element of discipleship when they first become Christians. The best way for you is to have a discipler to walk with you for a certain period of time so that daily devotion become a good habit. Or, you may have a small group of two to three people to encourage and be accountable to each other so that you won’t stop your daily devotion. I offer myself as your online discipler to walk with you daily to enrich your spiritual journey. So, shall we start this journey with Jesus Christ our Lord now!
