Bible Study

Paul gives a big encouragement to the Thessalonians who are being persecuted and in deep distress. What kind of comfort and encouragement do you need when you are being persecuted?

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The notion of a coming judgment, in which wrongs would be righted and evil would receive its just deserts, was commonplace among Jews of Paul's day.  In this Jewish thought, it was often the Messiah himself who would be the agent of God's judgment against the wicked.  Paul, believing Jesus to be the Messiah, saw him as the one through whom this righting of old wrongs would finally be achieved (e.g. Acts 17.31; Romans 2.16)

Do you believe God will pay back trouble to those who trouble us and give relief to us who are troubled?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Help me God! I am being persecuted!

What I got from Jesus today is a situational crying out of those who are being persecuted and in sufferings. Many times in my life when I was facing with that kind of pain I cried out like that.

What a great comfort from Paul today that God promises you that He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled! Wow! That is such a relief!

Are you being persecuted by someone or a group of people? Don't worry, if you are servants of God, then, you will experience what Paul says today.

On the other hand, you need to know the consequence of persecuting servants of God. Those who kill will eat their own fruit!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to taste the sweetness of your assurance that we won't be frightened and in fear when we are being persecuted. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
