Bible Study

We have Timothy as Paul's Connecting disciple for Paul in yesterday's passage. And, we have another one, Epaphroditus in today's passage to be Paul's Connecting disciple. What have we got in this passage to know more about Paul's humanity and his vulnerability.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The passage gives us a window not only on Epaphroditus - his journeys, his mission, and his nearly fatal illness - but also on Paul.  He was truly glad to have Epaphroditus with him, and he was truly horrified at the thought that he might die.  Verse 27 is most revealing: God took pity not only on Ephphroditus (in other words, he recovered from his illness), but also on Paul, so that he wouldn't have one sorrow piled on top of another…
Paul's description of Epaphroditus, then, reminds us of the vital truth that we are all of us, whether first-century apostles or twenty-first-century converts, expected to be fully human beings, facing all that life throws at us and being honest about the results.  Paul didn't need or want to hide from the young church, from his own converts.  He was not afraid to admit to his own vulnerability; that, indeed, is part of the whole point of 2 Corinthians, written most likely not very long after this letter.  He believed, after all, in the Jesus who 'was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God' (2 Corinthians 13.4).

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:The Prison Letters. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.112-113.

How much weigh can you feel in Paul's heart through this passage? How important it is for Paul to have two Connecting disciples to be with him in his most needed time? How many friends do you have can do that for you? How can you find more so that you have a better possibility to overcome your sorrows and crisis?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: We need each others to do God's Kingdom ministry

The message I got from Jesus today is a call for us to start praying for more Timothy and Epahphroditus. I give thanks to the Lord for you and many others because I believe it is your prayers that I and my family are being protected and blessed each day and that I can be able to do the Kingdom ministry God appointed and anointed me to do. If you have not started to pray for me and my family each day, please do so.

And, I would like you to do the same way. To have more brothers and sisters as how Timothy and Epaphroditus supported Paul in every way they could to support you.

We need each others to do God's Kingdom ministry!

Once again, I am going to have another 100 days 24 hours prayer list for you to sign up if you may. It will start April 9 and completed on July 17. The reason to pray like that again is for two reasons:
1. Our Restaurant Church, Emmanuel 330 is going to have this year's Alpha Course on that day, April 9. We need lots of prayer support so that we can have more people to receive Jesus as their Saviour, Lord and King. Please click this link of the message of Emmanuel 330 today: http://emmanuel330.blogspot.ca/
Emmanuel 330 is going to complete a 40 weeks series according to one of my new books: Break.Build.(Still in editing) A 40 days first time daily devotion.

2. To pray for my wife, Michelle: She got the message that she had leukaemia on April 9, 2010(exactly four years ago) and went to the hospital on April 10, 2010. Please click this link to go to that blog title "My wife Michelle has Leukaemia". Michelle is not feeling well starting two weeks ago and she needs your prayers!

We need each others to do God's Kingdom ministry!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to understand we need more brothers and sisters supporting each others so that we can be able to do your Kingdom ministry. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
