Bible Study

Paul gives a list of bad behaviours in this passage to give an example of what our old self looks like: falsehood, anger, stealing, unwholesome talk, bitterness, rage, brawling and slander and every form of malice. That's the result of our giving the devil a foothold.

Paul commands the Ephesians to be imitators of God so that those bad behaviours will have a 180 degree change: truthfulness, loving, giving, holiness, sweetness, forgiving, goodness, kindness and compassionate.

Do you know how you can do that, to be imitator of God?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Imitators of God? How?

What I got from Jesus today is the key to put off our old self and put on the new self. Be imitators of God, right? But, how?

I had been a piano teacher since I was 15 years of age until around 33. To teach my students to play well, sometimes I had to play and let them imitate my posture, tone and many things that can't be explain in words. "Just imitate what I am doing now and do it", this is what I used to tell my students.

So, to be imitators of God means you not only have the Word of God to follow but you have God Himself to be with you to follow. Without that personal relationship, how can you imitate?

Do you know what Paul wants to tell you?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be with you more so that we have a better chance to be imitators of you.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
