亞 蘭 王 的 元 帥 乃 縵 在 他 主 人 面 前 為 尊 為 大 ， 因 耶 和 華 曾 藉 他 使 亞 蘭 人 得 勝 ； 他 又 是 大 能 的 勇 士 ， 只 是 長 了 大 痲 瘋 。
2 先 前 亞 蘭 人 成 群 地 出 去 ， 從 以 色 列 國 擄 了 一 個 小 女 子 ， 這 女 子 就 服 事 乃 縵 的 妻 。
3 他 對 主 母 說 ： 巴 不 得 我 主 人 去 見 撒 瑪 利 亞 的 先 知 ， 必 能 治 好 他 的 大 痲 瘋 。
4 乃 縵 進 去 ， 告 訴 他 主 人 說 ， 以 色 列 國 的 女 子 如 此 如 此 說 。
5 亞 蘭 王 說 ： 你 可 以 去 ， 我 也 達 信 於 以 色 列 王 。 於 是 乃 縵 帶 銀 子 十 他 連 得 ， 金 子 六 千 舍 客 勒 ， 衣 裳 十 套 ， 就 去 了 ；
6 且 帶 信 給 以 色 列 王 ， 信 上 說 ： 我 打 發 臣 僕 乃 縵 去 見 你 ， 你 接 到 這 信 ， 就 要 治 好 他 的 大 痲 瘋 。
7 以 色 列 王 看 了 信 就 撕 裂 衣 服 ， 說 ： 我 豈 是 神 ， 能 使 人 死 使 人 活 呢 ？ 這 人 竟 打 發 人 來 ， 叫 我 治 好 他 的 大 痲 瘋 。 你 們 看 一 看 ， 這 人 何 以 尋 隙 攻 擊 我 呢 ？

11 乃 縵 卻 發 怒 走 了 ， 說 ： 我 想 他 必 定 出 來 見 我 ， 站 著 求 告 耶 和 華 ─ 他 神 的 名 ， 在 患 處 以 上 搖 手 ， 治 好 這 大 痲 瘋 。
12 大 馬 色 的 河 亞 罷 拿 和 法 珥 法 豈 不 比 以 色 列 的 一 切 水 更 好 麼 ？ 我 在 那 裡 沐 浴 不 得 潔 淨 麼 ？ 於 是 氣 忿 忿 地 轉 身 去 了 。
13 他 的 僕 人 進 前 來 ， 對 他 說 ： 我 父 啊 ， 先 知 若 吩 咐 你 做 一 件 大 事 ， 你 豈 不 做 麼 ？ 何 況 說 你 去 沐 浴 而 得 潔 淨 呢 ？
14 於 是 乃 縵 下 去 ， 照 著 神 人 的 話 ， 在 約 但 河 裡 沐 浴 七 回 ； 他 的 肉 復 原 ， 好 像 小 孩 子 的 肉 ， 他 就 潔 淨 了 。

Today's passage continue to show Elisha's powerful gift of healing. And, the key of someone to get healing and that is faith and trust.
If you were the Naaman, would you believe in what the slave girl says? If you were Naaman, would you believe in what Elisha's simple and seemingly nonsense way of healing? If I tell someone who is sick to dip into the bath tub one time a day for a consecutive seven days, do you think anyone would believe me and do that?
The Naaman story illustrates how ordinary people sometimes see things that leaders can't see… This poor young girl who has been captured in war knows someone who can do something about it…
One can perhaps understand Naaman's attitude to Elisha, who doesn't even bother to come to the door to see the great general but just sends one of his staff with some stupid-looking instructions. After all, Naaman knows how the exercise of spiritual gifts is supposed to work, and it's not by bathing in a muddy stream. It is again the ordinary guys, the members of his staff, who had the spiritual insight. They realize that one thing you can know about spiritual gifts is that you can never predict how they will work. There are no rules. God doesn't work by rules…
Naaman gets the cleansing because God is demonstrating that there is a prophet in Israel - that God is speaking and acting there.

I still remember last May when AM-Canada were having our Annual Leadership Conference a similar miracle happened. Bill, the husband of Rev. Kimberley Morrison of Urban Abbey in Thunder Bay, shared with me of his severe back pain. When I prayed for him I received a call from the Holy Spirit to ask him to dip into his bath tub using very hot water for 20 minutes for seven days when he went back to Thunder Bay. And I told him, "If you do that, you pain will be gone on the eighth day."
The next time I met him, he told me that he did not believe what I told him the first day he want back to Thunder BAy, just as Naaman did not believe what Elisha told him to do. But his back pain was more and more severe. So, on the second day he said to himself, "Well, what's the big deal to try what Bishop Silas asked me to do." Then he really dipped into his bath tub with very hot water for 20 minutes for seven days. You know what? On the eighty day, his severe back pain was gone!
God really doesn't work by rules! He can do anything using any kind of ways. Our problem is, do we allow God to do things in a way we do not believe? Are we going to do something exactly what God's servant ask us to do the next time it happens? Do you have that kind of faith that God can use anyone to bring us healing and freedom?
