If, feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure - or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure - then he is to take his wife to the priest.

Numbers 5: 14-15

What I got from Jesus today is: Why cause jealousy and suspicion?

When you read this chapter about the method they tested someone's wife of being unfaithful, you must have a feeling that that was a terrible method, right? But, you need to know that was the culture they were in 3,400 years ago!

The essence of this chapter is how God taught His people to get rid of two very bitter and poisonous evil spirits that could tear apart a marriage. That is the spirit of "jealousy" and "suspicion". You can guess what would happen if a husband have suspicion on his wife and full of jealousy. I have seen quite a number of very serious cases of how jealousy and suspicion killed a marriage. I know a husband checked the mileage of his wife's car to see if she visited the "suspect". I know a wife checked her husband's phone bill to see if her husband called the "suspect"! I know someone committed suicide and die! I know some families being completely destroyed!

I think it's not a coincidence that I finished writing this blog very early, around 7p.m. yesterday. Our whole family(Michelle, Ignatius, Athanasius and me) watched a funny movie yesterday night around 10:30p.m. and it was about jealousy, suspicion and anger! How can that be a coincidence! We nearly laughed to death but it showed how jealousy, suspicion and anger could destroy a marriage and people around them! The name of this movie is "Little Fockers" with Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Sterisand, Owen Wilson, Jessica Alba. Don't under estimate the destruction power of jealousy, suspicion and anger!

The best way to deal with that is to bring it before God and let God to have His own way to remove the jealousy, suspicion and anger from the soul of the husband(or wife if the husband is the one who is suspected as unfaithful).

Verse 28 gives a very good way to test whether the relationship has restored or not. When such things happened, the first thing of the unfaithful one would have some minor changes first, like unable to change clothes before her husband, avoid having more time with her husband and then more serious relationship changes would follow like unable to have sex with her husband. And when that happens, usually it can't be restored! "She will be able to have children" is a big sign of the fruit of a loving marriage. Without sex how can a wife has children?

Watch out for the spirit of "jealousy" and "suspicion"! It can ruin and destroy your marriage!
The opposite of "jealousy" and "suspicion" are "love" and "trust". Can you love and trust more?!

I would like to share with you a wonderful photo I took in Burnaby just three days ago outside Athanasius' dentist's office. A bright and clear full rainbow! Remember, our marriage is a promise before our Heavenly Father and it's like His promise to Noah through the rainbow! Always keep this promise and you, your marriage and your family will be richly blessed and can bless many families!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us not to let jealousy, suspicion and anger to control our lives and destroy our marriages. Teach us to love and trust that we can have a blessed and wonderful marriage. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
