OT DAY 443 - You Are in Divine Protection and Presence (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

praise him with the clash of cymbals,
           praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
                                     Psalm 150:5-6

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (1 Samuel 17:55-18:16)

10 The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully on Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand 11 and he hurled it, saying to himself, “I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David eluded him twice.
12 Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with David but had departed from Saul. 13 So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns. 14 In everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him. 15 When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him. 16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns.                       1   Samuel 18: 10-16

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening

We talked about Saul's bad spirit gave him bad temper two days ago. Today, we have another passage telling us that God sent an evil spirit again to Saul. This seems an "upgraded" evil spirit because it is not only bad temper. It is jealousy and bitterness that leads to killing. How can David escape this kind of evil spirit?

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:

It's a bad spirit in the sense that it arouses energy and threatens trouble for David, but David has a charmed life. You could say that God protected David, but the story just says that David evaded Saul. David knows how to watch his back. On the other hand, when Saul sends David on risky missions in the hope that he will get killed, instead he succeeds on the mission, and that happens because "Yahweh was with him."…
Divine protection is involved, and things would not have turned out the way they do without this.

Just as I said yesterday, whether you are willing to let Jesus to be your Lord and King daily decides the winning or losing of your whole life. Do you think if you are in Divine protection and presence each day?

    Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to be with you each day enjoying your presence and protection that no evil force can harm me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. What kind of new awareness have you received today?

2. Do you think you are in Divine presence and protection each day?

    3. What have you got from Jesus today?

 Praise and Thanksgiving
