Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

        Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
           like streams in the Negeb!
        Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
        He who goes out weeping,
           bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
           bringing his sheaves with him.

                       Psalm 126 :4-6

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Judges 10:15-16)

15 And the people of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned; do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please deliver us this day.” 16 So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord, and he became impatient over the misery of Israel.
                      Judges 10:15-16
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
When God said to the Israelites, "That's it! I've had enough!" What was their response? What would be your response?

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:

On this occasion, for the fist time, God says, "I've had enough." The trouble is that God isn't tough enough to maintain that stance, and perhaps the Israelites suspect that this is so. When God has said, "We're done. I'm not rescuing you again," one might have expected that they would say, "Okay, no good turning to him, then." In fact, they turn back to God even though God has told them of this intention to let them stew in their own juices. Perhaps they indeed suspect God lacks the strength of character to do so. Or perhaps they turn back because they know it is the right thing to do even if it gets them nowhere.

John Goldingay. Joshua, Judges and Ruth for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.126.

Do you know how much God loves you? Do you know how much God wants to deliver this message to some people through you?

What I received from Jesus today is:
"Come back to me. Don't run away from me, you are hurting yourself!"

If this message is for you, receive that and repent. Come back to God's Kingdom.

If this message is for someone, deliver this message to that person in God's timing.

God always gives us chances to return because He is our Father!

          Come home!

    Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our hearts to receive your love and enjoy loving by you and your people in your home.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. How did the Israelites react to God's warning? How do you react to God's warning?

2.  Do you have someone God prepares to deliver this message of love and acceptance?

3. What have you got from Jesus today?

Today's Time with Abba daily reading that I recited loudly and copy the Bible is:
Psalm 119:121-128
Ezekiel 14:12-16:42
Hebrews 7:18-28
Proverbs 27:4-6
