Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

        O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
               my eyes are not raised too high;
           I do not occupy myself with things
               too great and too marvelous for me.
          But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
               like a weaned child with its mother;
                like a weaned child is my soul within me.
           O Israel, hope in the Lord
                from this time forth and forevermore.

                          Psalm 131 :1-3

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Judges 12:8-13:1)

     After him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel. He had thirty sons, and thirty daughters he gave in marriage outside his clan, and thirty daughters he brought in from outside for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years. 10 Then Ibzan died and was buried at Bethlehem.
11 After him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel, and he judged Israel ten years. 12 Then Elon the Zebulunite died and was buried at Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
13 After him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel. 14 He had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys, and he judged Israel eight years. 15 Then Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died and was buried at Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.

13 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.
                      Judges 12:8-13:1
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
          We read about three judges today. There seems nothing to talk about their great power and deeds as a judge. But, you can see how God blessed their families in two of those judges.

           If we make a count on the total number of years since Jephthah, we may have a glimpse of how important a Godly leader can be to bring security and peace. Ibzan, 7 years; Elon, 10 years and Abdon, 8 years. That is a total number of 25 years of security and peace when God's people were willing to listen and obey to God and His appointed leaders.

           The situation suddenly changed because there was no judge surfaced and they had no leader to follow as a model. They did evil in the eyes of the Lord again! Then they had 40 years into the hands of the Philistines.

           How are you lately? Secure, peace with blessed family, or insecure, struggle and broken family?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Anoint us each day so that we can do your mighty work to bring security and peace to our families and beyond.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. Do you have a blessed family? How important it is to have a Godly leader?

2. Do you know why the Israelites keep on living this kind of sinful cycle of leaving God?

3. What have you got from Jesus today?

Today's Time with Abba daily reading that I recited loudly and copy the Bible is:
Psalm 119:161-168
Ezekiel 23:1-49
Hebrews 10:18- 39
Proverbs 27:13
