Do you know what "Be Still" means?

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Sing a song to praise God (you are welcome to use "Father, I adore you" which I have been singing every morning for the past 20 years or your own choice to praise God)

          Father, I adore You, lay my life before You, how I love You.
          Jesus, I adore You, lay my life before You, how I love You.
          Spirit, I adore You, lay my life before You, how I love You.

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method https://bishopsilas.blogspot.com/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

           "Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.

             Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.

             Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

    Time with Abba passages: (Psalm 46:8-11, Deuteronomy 18:1-20:20; Luke 9:28-50; Proverbs 12:10)

    Today's key passages:

             Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Psalm 46:8-11

he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. 31 They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)
34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

Luke 9:28-35

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to him.

     My Listening
    The topic I received today from Jesus is Do you know what "Be Still" means?

    Many people asked is it God's work to make the whole world upside down with this COVID-19? Why God is so cruel to kill so many people, to allow so many people to have COVID-19 and so many people to suffer?

    No one is God, no one can answer those questions on behalf of God!

    But, today's Psalm 46:8-9 tells us that when this world is being brought to a state of desolations by wars or other sufferings, it is God's work, even though we might never understand! What we need to do when those time come is to "Be Still"!

     If we are willing to "Be Still", then God's Name will be glorified, God will be with us and we will be in the most secure fortress and refuge, His own fortress!

    The wonderful thing is that we can have a better grasp from today's Luke 9:28-35 to understand what does "Be Still" means. Because "Be Still" is the secret of how Jesus could be with His Father, received the Father's direction and power!

    When we follow Jesus' secret every morning and that is "Be Still"!

    "Be Still" is that you do not need to do anything. The only thing you need to do is just like Jesus to talk to Mose and Elijah in person, somewhat like we FaceTime someone far away. Well, even better, because Mose and Elijah were actually there in person!

     It is no more in past tense that Jesus reading the Old Testament, but in present tense to listen to what Moses and Elijah said representing the Law and the books of the Prophets!

    We can see that in today's Luke of how Abba Father talked in present tense to Jesus, Peter, James and John! And, this is "Be Still"! Jesus was teaching his most beloved three apostles, Peter, James and John what "Be Still" really means. May be the other nine apostles were not teachable yet!

    And, Jesus is teaching you what "Be Still" really means! Are you teachable?
    This is the secret for us to be restful physically and spiritually, this is the secret for us to be with the Lord, to receive instruction from Him and His power to do things He commands us to do every day!

     Are you willing to follow Jesus' model to be still each morning to rest in the presence of God?

     Dear Lord Jesus,
     Help us to be willing to follow your model to be still each morning to rest in the presence of Abba Father.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

      Reflect on these questions:
     1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

      2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus?
