Bible Study

The past two days we learned from two examples of how a worldly view can lead people to grumble, fight and stuck in the issue of fairness. "It's not fair" becomes a key word to so many people living in this worldly view always want to get something from someone, and lots of things from Jesus! Even his two most beloved apostles James and John! Remember Jesus' always took only three apostles to be with him and they were Peter, James and John?

Here in this passage is a good example of Jesus' opening two blind beggars eyes as a paradigm shift from worldly view to kingdom view! Can you see that?

N.T. Wright helps us to see what was really happening:
Jesus said, "What do you want me to do for you?"
'Master, open our eyes!  That's what we want!  Open our eyes!'
Jesus, says Matthew, was deeply moved.  He had watched the human drama that had taken place in those few moments.  He knew what it had cost them, and would cost them, to dig down beneath the hard crust of a lifetime of begging for money and to ask instead for the one thing that really mattered.  He touched them, and they saw.
And, says Matthew, they followed him...They have left one life behind, and have begun a new one.  It can happen to anyone who asks Jesus for something and finds Jesus' searching question coming straight back at them, piercing through the outer crust and finding the real request bubbling up undrneath.
And when that real request is really met, the only possible result is real discipleship.  Following Jesus will be costly.  But if he's already given you everything you really wanted, what else is there to do?

So Jesus is asking you now, "What do you want me to do for you?"
   What is your reply?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: What do you want me to do for you?

What I received from Jesus today is a reality check of our spiritual life. What are we really doing each day? What do we really want each day?

What I got are three things Jesus would like to tell you today:
1. If you can see, then you will follow me and my kingdom view!
2. If you follow your own worldly view, then you must be blind!
3. If you are not blind and you can see, then the only possible thing you want is real discipleship following my way to do things. What else is there to do beside this kingdom view ministry? Why you are still so worldly, grasping on those worldly things? What's the use? Are you blind?

Wow! I am in awe now! The presence of the Lord is so intense in this present moment that I can't describe with words.
I invite you sincerely to let these three points sink in your soul and let Jesus speaks to you. Listen, for He speaks!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to see and that we can follow you to experience real discipleship. A real relational and missional discipleship. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
