This is a passage full of expectation that those people welcomed Jesus as the Messiah hoping that the prophesy from Zechariah 9:9 could be fulfill at last.
That is why they showed a very special gesture to put their cloaks on the road.
N.T. Wright says:
It's a very special gesture, especially is the cloak is the only one you've got. It says, quite clearly, that you are celebrating and valuing this person about as highly as you can. It implies that, if need arouse, you would give him anything else you had as well.
On the other hand, when those people looked back when most of them shouted to crucify Jesus, the triumphal entry was actually a death walk! That's how they killed the son of God! That's how people kill so many servants of God! Because Jesus and other servants of God could not meet their expectation, they could not give what they wanted!
Do you know what do you really want from Jesus?
Do you know what Jesus wants from you?

What I heard from Jesus today is: Triumphal entry or death walk?
What I received from Jesus today is a question whether Jesus is really our King or Jesus is just someone who can give what we want.
If Jesus is really our King, then we are willing to give him everything we have with no expectation and be willing to follow his command to do anything.
If Jesus is that somebody who can give what we want, then we will go to him only when there is something we want very badly. Just as N.T. Wright says:
Give us peace, now! Pay my bills, and hurry! Save the life of my sick child, and do it right away! Give me a job by this time tomorrow! And - perhaps the most common prayer of all - Help!
Is Jesus just that kind of person you want and you give him a nick name - king?Or, is He really your King?
It depends on how willing you are to give him anything and to obey him as your Lord and King or how greedy you are who want to get everything from him and want to be his lord and king!
If Jesus is really our King, then we are willing to give him everything we have with no expectation and be willing to follow his command to do anything.
