Bible Study

This is a passage just like the one yesterday calling us to repent. Why? Because as tenant farmers of God's vineyard, we might not have paid the rent to God!

     N.T. Wright says:
The vineyard owner is of course God; the vineyard is Israel; the farmers are Israel's officials, and the slaves are the earlier prophets, ending with John the Baptist.  the Son can only be Jesus himself.
It is a story full of depth, sorrow and power.  It tells how Jesus has now come to Jerusalem to confront the tenant farmers with God's demand for repentance, for Israel to be at last what it was called to be, the light of God's world.  And it is the story of how Israel, through its official representatives, is going to refuse the demand, and will end up by killing him.

Jesus wants to ask you today where is his rent? How well are you doing your farming job for Him? Do you have anything to repent today?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: Where is my rent?

What I got from Jesus is a question about whether we know what we are doing each day. Do we know that we are just tenant farmers or do we have the biggest mistake in life thinking that we are farming our own vineyard?

Where is the fruit that you should give to Jesus?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us that we can be fruitful and that we can be able to pay the rent to you acknowledging that you are the owner of the vineyard you gives us to farm.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
