OT DAY 429 - Prophetic Gift Demonstrated Ten Days Ago (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

         Praise the Lord!
        Praise the Lord from the heavens;
           praise him in the heights!
        Praise him, all his angels;
             praise him, all his hosts!
                    Psalm 148:1-2

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (1 Samuel 10:1-11)


       Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head and kissed him and said, “Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel? And you shall reign over the people of the Lord and you will save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies. And this shall be the sign to you that the Lord has anointed you to be prince over his heritage. When you depart from me today, you will meet two men by Rachel's tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah, and they will say to you, ‘The donkeys that you went to seek are found, and now your father has ceased to care about the donkeys and is anxious about you, saying, “What shall I do about my son?”’ Then you shall go on from there farther and come to the oak of Tabor. Three men going up to God at Bethel will meet you there, one carrying three young goats, another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a skin of wine. And they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall accept from their hand. After that you shall come to Gibeath-elohim,where there is a garrison of the Philistines. And there, as soon as you come to the city, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and lyre before them, prophesying. Then the Spirit of the Lord will rush upon you,and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. Now when these signs meet you, do what your hand finds to do, for God is with you. Then go down before me to Gilgal. And behold, I am coming down to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice peace offerings. Seven days you shall wait, until I come to you and show you what you shall do.”
When he turned his back to leave Samuel, God gave him another heart. And all these signs came to pass that day. 10 When they came to Gibeah, behold, a group of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, and he prophesied among them. 11 And when all who knew him previously saw how he prophesied with the prophets, the people said to one another, “What has come over the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”      1   Samuel 10: 1-11


Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

          According to the passage, Saul became a different person because God sent Samuel to demonstrate his prophetic gift. When all  three signs "came to pass that day", Saul believed and be willing to obey Samuel's command.

          Yes, just as I quoted what Professor Goldingay says:  

            I realized I had become someone who did have pictures or visions. There was a sense in which I had become a different person.
           For me and for Saul, an experience of that kind comes not in order to give us a spiritual experience but because of something God wants to do for other people.

    Some wonderful thing happened just ten days ago that the prophetic gift of Pastor Ignatius Ng, our elder son and me helped a pastor of 10th Ave. 
Alliance Church to be supported by God and His family! Pastor Vanessa served for the past six years at 10th Ave. church and is being called by God to go to serve in Urban Abbey, one of the churches under AM-Canada: http://www.urbanabbey.ca/

Hello Bishop Silas,

Here is what I have written.  I hope this is what you were looking for. 

While I have loved and valued my years in Vancouver as my work at Tenth was coming to an end I felt very open to what might be next. I desire to be and work where there is a need and I can serve Him with all of my heart and giftings.
Urban Abbey has a vision to live with and walk alongside those who are in great need of love and support in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I feel that my role at Urban Abbey calls all of my diverse gifting’s and passions into action and I am excited to start on this next venture of life.It is always a little unnerving taking a step of faith; however, our Lord is amazing at giving us His perfect peace and finding ways to give us tangible affirmation and encouragement.
One of my moments of these tangible moments occurred for me when I had the wonderful opportunity to be with Bishop Silas and his community on Friday, Jan 15. We had a lovely morning of being soaked in God’s word and then an intimate time of worship together. I was blessed by the spontaneous commissioning this community did for me. Having brothers and sisters of the family of God surround me, lay hands on me and then anoint me with oil, blessings and prayers.  What at time of encouragement! Both brother Silas and Ignatius felt moved by the Lord to share scripture with me.  Little did they know how these two scriptures had been foundational to me in my my previous job.
Ezekiel 37 speaks of dry bones rising up, coming to new life and becoming part of God’s vast army.  This was a prayer I had for partnerships in my previous work and I felt the Lord say through this commissioning that your work will carry on through Me and we also see redemption like this happen again in the land that is before you.
Ez 37:12”’This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’”

Ephesians 3:20, was another verse that was spoken over me in this time of anointing.  “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…”  This passage is what I would sign of my all my emails with.  Kinda of like a remembrance that we can do all the prayer, planing and work that we want; however, it is truly the Lord who we take the work of man and work a miracle to make it better than we could ever dream possible.  This scripture is a reminder to me that we our bound by the limitations of man, yet God has no limitations.  This time was served to remind me yet again, that God is asking me to do only that which I can and He will be faithful us to show up and work a miracle to see redemptive work happen for His Kingdom!

I walked away from this prayer time feeling not only supported by the family of God here but also God Himself.  These prayers and scriptures served to show me that God sees me, is with me and as long as I stay faithful to Him, He will always be faithful to answer and provide!  Thank you Bishop Silas, Pastor Ignatius and community.

Praise the Lord for how wonderful God used the gift of prophecy not only in the past but also nowadays "because of something God wants to do for other people"(Professor Goldingay).

    For you to become a different person like Saul, or Pastor Vanessa, or me, just open your life to receive God's preparation. He uses many servants to take you to a new level, to become a "different", renewed, anointed and blessed person! 

        And, tomorrow, I am going to have Rev. Joshua Siu, our English Pastor to share with you all another example of prophetic gift he demonstrated just three days ago to a church in downtown Vancouver.

Dear Lord Jesus, 
    Open our eyes to see those things you want us to see so that we can become a different person in you.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. What have you seen in Pastor Vanessa's testimony?

2. What are the steps for Saul to become a different person? 

    3. What have you got from Jesus today?
