OT DAY 511 - "Don't Quit" Rule No. 7: Raise Up Apprentices, Then Become Disciples (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

      The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
Oh, save your people and bless your heritage!
Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
                                     Psalm 28:8-9

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (1 Kings 19:19-21)

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.
                                         1 Kings 19:19-21

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

    My Listening

Don't Quit Rule No. 7 is the last rule! If you can live out those rules, I do not think you would have the thought of QUIT anymore.

So, what is the significance of this last rule, secret?

From what we can see in Elijah's life, you might aware that he is a kind of Rambo type of top leader. Powerful, gifted, anointed and successful! But, this kind of leaders burn out quite easily for not allowing God to lead them. For not having enough rest and healthy diet, not being able to listen to the voice of God or be able to listen but without action to follow. These we all covered the past few days. So today, we got the last bit and may be the most important bit!

If we live out all six rules, then Rule No. 7 will come automatically. What is that? You will change from a Rambo type of "solo" leader to a team player. You will spend most of your time to raise up apprentices following your example and then in times they will become Jesus' faithful disciples.

May God bless you to live out all seven rules and will never quit!!!

    Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to live out all seven rules of not quitting so that we can be used by you to do your Kingdom ministry. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. How can today's Rule No. 7 help you to become a great leader of Jesus?

2. Is there anything blocking you from not be able to live out all seven rules? Could you pray now to Jesus so that He will help you to remove all those obstacles?

    3. What have you got from Jesus today?
