Bible Study

Today's passage comes up with one of the most famous golden verse in the Bible:
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.                                         Galatians 2:20

Why Paul says this message to give us the most important identity to be God's people?

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The question Paul and Peter have run into, which was focused on whether Jewish and Gentile Christians were allowed to eat at the same table, is the question: who is God's true Israel?  Who are the true people of God?  Is it all who belong to the Messiah?  Or is it only Jewish Christians, with Gentile Christians remaining second-class citizens?

Who then are we?  We are the Messiah's people, with his life now at work in us.  And, since the central thing about him is his loving faithfulness, the central thing about us, the only thing in fact that defines us, is our own loving faithfulness, the glad response of faith to the God who has sent his son to die for us.  This is the very heart of Christian identity.

So, do you know who you are? Are you sure you know who you are?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Do you know who you are?

What I got from Jesus today is the key to our daily living. We are not justified by works of law, just like those Jews. We are justified by faith, by our new life in Jesus. It is not you anymore but Jesus lives in you. The thing that you are thinking, the words that you are saying and the work that you are doing are no more yours but Jesus ministry.

Are you really doing Jesus ministry to build up His body? Or, are you tearing down His body thinking that you are doing something good for Jesus just like those Jews did?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to experience the dying and rising with you that we no longer live but you live in us.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
