Bible Study

Paul brings the argument that Christians do not need circumcision to a deeper level in this passage.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Now, Paul says, if you get circumcised you are saying that it isn't the spirit that matters but the flesh - the flesh of your foreskins, and 'the flesh' as the whole sphere of existence of humanity in rebellion against God…You are ignoring the fact that all you presently enjoy - the present spiritual life of the church, and the powerful things God does in your midst, works of healing and the like - happen because of the spirit, and happen in the context of your trust in God's grace…Being a Christian starts and continues as a matter of faith.  The Jewish law has nothing to say to it.
Paul has thus lined up 'spirit' and 'faith' on the one hand, and 'flesh' and 'law' on the other…The central theme of the letter: if you believe the gospel, you are already a child of Abraham in every sense that matters.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:Galatians and Thessalonians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.29-30.

Are you willing to be led by the Holy Spirit or just believing in your own ability and work? When do you stop doing your own way and have a total trust in God to do His mighty work?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Let God be God

What I got from Jesus today is a crucial and critical test of faith. We know that we have to let God be God. In reality, our problem is to take God's place to be God using all kinds of skills, effort and power to do God's work.

That is why so many Christians have not experienced miracle because they do not believe in miracles. What does it means to let God be God. Well, using Paul's example, do not insist on having circumcision and following Moses law anymore but to allow the Holy Spirit works in you and by faith comes to Jesus each day to let Jesus be your Saviour, Lord and King. That's what it means to let God be God! For me, it is praying, fasting, kneeling, daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus and following Jesus to do His mission ministries. What about you?

Without letting go your pride thinking that you can do all kinds of things, you are sitting on God's seat to be God. You are going to be stuck because after all we are just a human being. Let God be God and you can join Jesus' team to hear Jesus voice: Let's go!

Let go! Let God! Let's go!

     Can you do that?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to let you to be our Lord so that we can be unstuck and be able to join you and your team to do your mighty works.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
