Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

 My Listening
The topic I received from Jesus is: "How do you know you are out of captivity?"

The past two days we talked about whether we are in captivity, how can we get out and how do you know you are really out.

Today we talk about where can we go after we got out of captivity, would we being captured again?

We've got God's warning and His promise from today's Psalm 81:8-16.

"Hear me, my people and I will warn you - if you would only listen to me. You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me. I am the Lord your God who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it." Psalm 81:8-10

But the reality is that we would not listen, we would not submit to God's Lordship but willing to be lorded by other "gods" of this world, also we like to sit on God's throne acting as God!

God says, "But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their foes!" Psalm 81:11-14

Then we read what God says in today's Psalm happened in today's 2 Chronicles concerning with King Hezekiah and his son King Manasseh!

We read how King Hezekiah was being attacked by a vast army of the King of Assyria and because of his faithfulness God sent one angel and then 185,000 Assyrian soldiers were being killed by that angel in just one night and then the Assyrian King was being killed by two of his sons in a short while.

Yes, when we returned to God and cried out to Him, God can save us quickly, really very quickly.

But, you know what? Hezekiah was being captured by his own pride and was in captivity of his own pride!

"In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign. But Hezekiah's heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the Lord's wrath was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem. Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the Lord's wrath did not come on them during the days of Hezekiah." 2 Chronicles 32: 24-26

I don't think I need to tell you what happened to his son, King Manasseh because you should get my point. God is merciful and when we really repent, He will come to save us and take us out from captivity!

So, can we have a better chance of not falling into captivity again and again?

Yes, what I received from Jesus today is that we need to be in God's company as soon as possible. See how Paul describes how blessed and secure he is when he is in God's company!

Romans 15: 32 "so that I may come to you with joy, by God's will, and in your company be refreshed."

What I received today is that the word "company" can mean a military unit. A company of soldiers consists of around 80 to 150 soldiers commanded by a major or a captain. Most company are formed of three to six platoons.

Remember what Hezekiah says in 2 Chronicles 32: 7 that the Israelites should not be afraid of the "vast army" of Assyria because there is a greater power with them than with the Assyrian army. Wow! The greater power was just one angel and could kill almost all vast army!

You have to be in the company of God so that you won't be captured by Satan again through all kinds of cunning traps, money, power, desire, anxiety, depression, all kinds of illness including cancer, heart problems ....

You have to be in God's company daily! And, you need to know God's has already prepared for you His company and that is your church! A church with less Religious People but with more real Christians, true disciples of Christ, true soldiers of God!

Only if you join God's vast army then you won't become in captivity again!

     Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to because a real Christian and your faithful soldiers joining the company you already prepared for me so that I won't be in captivity again. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

      Reflect on these questions:
    1. Do you know where to find God's "company" for you?

   2. What actions do you need to take in order that you are secure in God prepared company?

     3. What have you received from Jesus today?

    Praise and Thanksgiving
