DAY 182 (2019) - Spirit of Depression is a reverse of Psalm 23! (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word, Time with Abba (Psalm 143:1-6; 2 Kings 18:13-19:37; Acts 21:1-16, Proverbs 18:8)

Today's main passage:
The enemy pursues me,
    he crushes me to the ground;
he makes me dwell in the darkness
    like those long dead.
So my spirit grows faint within me;
    my heart within me is dismayed.
I remember the days of long ago;
    I meditate on all your works
    and consider what your hands have done.
I spread out my hands to you;
    I thirst for you like a parched land.   Psalm  143:3-6

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him.

My Listening
Today I have a big catch! I found out the Spirit of Depression is actually to turn Psalm 23 upside down! Let's turn it back right side up:

Psalm 143:2
The enemy pursues me,
    he crushes me to the ground;
he makes me dwell in the darkness
    like those long dead.

Psalm 23:1-2
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
  he leads me beside quiet waters,
Psalm143:3
So my spirit grows faint within me;
    my heart within me is dismayed.
Psalm 23:3
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake.

Depression forces people to live in darkness like the dead people;
but God makes us sheep with He as our Shepherd;
 we have green pasture to eat, clean water to drink and a place to take a nap like those sheep!

Depression makes people's soul to deep sleep and hopeless, no way out;
but God refreshes our souls and make our hearts joyful, we have a road, a road in His own Way and in His own presence!

Please take a look on one of the most powerful passage as in today's 2 Kings. King Hezekiah trusted Isaiah and led all people to humble before God, cried out to God for Him to act. Wow! Just one angel and 185,000 Assyrian soldiers died and king Sennacherib was being killed by two of his own sons!

"Do not be afraid!" (2 Kings 19:6) You have Jesus with you, why afraid?

Ask Jesus to send an angel to kick out all the army of the spirit of depression so that you can experience Psalm 23 each day!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Send an angel to kick out all the army of depression for us so  that we can walk joyfully in your presence each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. What kind of inspiration and encouragement have you received from today's message ?

2. What is your action to walk joyfully in God's presence each day?
