Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word, Time with Abba (Psalm 78:1-16; 2 Chronicles 7:11-10:19; Romans 8:9-21, Proverbs 19:26)

Today's main passages:
We will not hide them from their descendants;
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
    to teach their children,
so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
    but would keep his commands.
They would not be like their ancestors
    a stubborn and rebellious generation,
whose hearts were not loyal to God,
whose spirits were not faithful to him.
The men of Ephraim, though armed with bows,
turned back on the day of battle;                    Psalm 78:4-9

Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother
is a child who brings shame and disgrace.     Proverbs 19:26

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Romans 8:14-17

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him.

My Listening
Today's Psalm and Proverbs remind us of two weaknesses being human:
1. Ungrateful: Ungrateful to our parents and to our Heavenly Father, robing their money and glory, kicking them away from us, self-centred, pride...

2. Retreat: Just like those men of Ephraim, even they were armed with bows, but they turned back on the day of battle! Because they were "stubborn, rebellious generations whose hearts were not loyal to God"!

We can find the way to turn the right side up again from today's Romans 8:14-17 and it is the Holy Spirit!
If we are being filled with the Holy Spirit, put to death the misdeeds of the body by the Holy Spirit, we can surely be able to change from ungrateful to gracious, from retreat to go forward!

    Come, Holy Spirit,
Fill us that we can be able to change from ungrateful to gracious, from retreat to go forward. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. What kind of inspiration and warning have you received from today's message ?

2. What is the next one step for you to be able to change from ungrateful to gracious, from retreat to go forward?
