DAY 76 (2020) - Don't be frightened! Wait patiently, Jesus heard your cry! (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word, Time with Abba (Psalm 40:1-5, Numbers 24:1-25:18; Luke 2:1-35; Proverbs 11:14)

    Today's main passage:
    I waited patiently for the Lord;
      he turned to me and heard my cry.
      He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
           out of the mud and mire;
      he set my feet on a rock
           and gave me a firm place to stand.
      He put a new song in my mouth,
           a hymn of praise to our God.
      Many will see and fear the Lord
            and put their trust in him.

        Psalm 40:1-3

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him.

    My Listening
    The topic I received today from Jesus isDon't be frightened! Wait patiently, Jesus heard your cry!

    Today Canada Prime Minister Trudeau announced the closing of all borders and asked people in Canada to stay at home. At the same time British Columbia Provincial Government announced to ban all activities over 50 people and other new measures. After the announcements, a lot of supermarkets in Vancouver were without food and utilities, not even an egg!

    Today's Psalm gives us a timely comfort: Don't be frightened! Wait patiently, Jesus heard your cry!

    Yes, Jesus will surely lift you out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire of the fear of COVID-19!  When we are out of this plague and experience the salvation of God, we will walk each day in trust and that we can sing to the Lord and trust in the Lord more and more each day!

      Dear Lord Jesus,
      Help us not to be afraid but to wait patiently, trusting that you heard our cry. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

       Reflect on these questions:
     1. How could you not to be afraid but to wait patiently, trusting that Jesus heard your cry?

       2.  What is your next step to wait patiently?
