Let us praise the Lord:

My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
when I remember you upon my bed,
    and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
                                             Psalm 63:5-6
Today's Reading: Exodus 20:7

The Third Commandment is the one so easily forget. It happens to be so many serious tragedy in the history of mankind that kings, rulers, religious leaders and ordinary people use God's name for their own purpose.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

They must not associate God with things that have nothing to do with God and actually have no reality.  They could do that by waging their own wars and calling them God's, or building a sanctuary to suit them and saying this is God's will, or making their decisions and calling them God's, or appointing the government they want and calling it God's.

Do you have such kind of problem?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to Felix Mendelssohn's On Wings of Song played by one of the greatest violinist Isaac Stern:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Yj3RSxZmBQ

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Don't misuse God's name

What I receive from Jesus today is a warning to all of us concerning with the use of God's name. This is not easy to deal with because lots of time Christians use God's name to do ministries.

Like in Simeon(Luke 2:25-35), Zechariah(Luke 1: 8-23, 67- 79), Elizabeth(Luke 1: 39-45, 57-64) and many other examples in Old Testament and New Testament that servants of God are being filled with the Holy Spirit, revealed by the Holy Spirit, moved by the Holy Spirit and then do some extraordinary things or even miracles.

How do you differentiate who are those rightly use God's Name and who are those wrongly use God's Name?

     Well, Jesus have an answer:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly areravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you;depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
                                                                                Matthew 7: 15-23

Well, if you tell me you are doing something in God's Will, you have something from God, show me your fruits, your track record, that's the first step to discern whether someone is misusing God's name or not.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know that we need to be very carefully not to misuse your Name. Lead us each day that we can be fruitful and multiply. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
