Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
    sing the glory of his name;
    give to him glorious praise!

      Those who cannot keep the Fourth Commandment will put to death according to God's command. You can read from Exodus 31:14-15; 35:2 about the commandment of putting to death, and it really happened as record in Numbers 15:32-36 that an Israelite was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day and was being stoned to death by the order of Moses and Aaron by all the Israelites. Why to ignore this commandment is so serious to the point of death sentence?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

       They are to see to the observance of the Sabbath.  The house-holders are to do so and to make sure everyone else can do so, even the animals.  There is to be no sending the servants out to plow on the Sabbath when you are able to rest.  This command has the longest rationale; it will be one of the most difficult to accept when the householder knows there is work on the farm to be one and that failing to do it risks the family's having nothing to eat next year.

       What do you think is the Sabbath rest God requires for you now?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to Felix Mendelssohn's On Wings of Song played by one of the greatest violinist Isaac Stern:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Yj3RSxZmBQ

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Do you have Sabbath rest?

    What I receive from Jesus today is an invitation to have Biblical Sabbath rest. It is a day of rest on two parts. This first part is to go to church to worship. The second part is to have the other time to rest, doing no work.

    To most people, it is impossible. Lots of Christians interpret Sunday as a day to go to church and then after lunch they can go back to work. The command God gives is for His people to have one day rest weekly so that they can have a better relationship with God and with themselves, spiritually and physically.

    There are so many people in distress, depression and all kinds of illness due to no rest. Working, working and working kill so many people. Killing in the sense of death or other symptoms physically that no medicine or medical doctors can cure.

    You have to go to church worshiping God every Sunday and then enjoy the rest of the day without working. For those who can't go to church on Sunday like those brothers and sisters at our Restaurant Church Emmanuel 330, then Wednesday is the day for their Sabbath rest.

    You need your Sabbath rest before it is too late!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know the importance of Sabbath rest and be able to have our Sabbath rest.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
